Happy birthday Chicky. Plans sound good for celebrating. We were NT members when we were still in the UK. Some lovely places but the best thing for us was free parking for access to various bits of the Lake District for walks and rambles. Duly horrified by the prices for entry and parking when I went to Sissinghursta few years ago as a non-member, particularly since the garden was not looking good, the plants on sale were all ragged and thirsty and then fancy nex vegetable garden they were promoting was practically bare, in May! I was there on my way to the Chelsea FS and expected more..
Very blowy out there today but blue skies so far. Typical. I went out to look for the shooting stars in Orion last night and it was a streaky cloudy sky with lots of moonlight slanting thru low down. Nor fireworks.
PD - enjoy your papers and ignore the stress inducing stories as best you can.
Pat - hope you've enjoyed yourselves in Canberra.
Hosta - count the hours you had the other night, not the ones you didn't last night.
Hi to everyone else - brain distracted cos my new clems and a yuzu have just arrived and I need to go and shop for deep pots, having used the ones I had for my rescued acers............
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Morning all. Happy Birthday Chicky. Hope the home comforts are welcome after hospital hospitality Punkdoc. Hope you feel more like it today Lily.
Watched a beautiful programme on iPlayer: "H is for Hawk: A New Chapter" - I recommend it for a rainy afternoon. Helen, the author and narrator has one of those soothing voices too.
Hugs to Punkdoc and LilyP. Hope you both feel much better soon.
Happy birthday Chicky! Enjoy your NT membership - a great present. My dad gave us life membership as a wedding present... a fab idea, much used over the years.
Obelixx, I've just come across Zinsser paints (recommended on a landlord's forum for covering over unmentionable horrors perpetrated by departing tenants). My interest was in the paint they make for covering mould & mildew, but they also do one for covering wallpaper, and another for obliterating graffiti. Might they work for your extreme coloured walls, perhaps?
I'm supposed to be singing in a rehearsal all afternoon for a concert this evening. I'll turn up to the rehearsal but appear to have turned into a bass... sore throat and face ache at present. We shall see!
Dacha, your 4 seasons concert sounds great!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Thanks Liri. I shall keep an eye out. The consensus here seems to be to neutralise with grey before going for top colour. When my Belgian scientists were here they declared the landing wallpaper must be British. No. I shall have to deal with it sooner or meter but not yet.....
Hope your throat clears up quickly.
DL - your anniversary programme sounds great. Love that music.
Yes Chicky - that is one of the benefits. Quite odd this summer making sure Possum was OK with our excursions habit.
Dove - Don't get Radio 4 here but I can on my PC so I'll try and catch that on playback.
Lunch now - romanesco with cheese sauce, then shopping for pots.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Happy birthday Chicky. That sounds a lovely birthday present. I hope you enjoy Stourhead and the weather is fine.
Gosh that's bright Obelixx, but at least it looks clean and fresh. OH's French house had one lime green wall, the others has purple and red square spirals and the kitch had big orange flowers! I didn't see it like that though, was painted before I met him.
Raining.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Ob ....love the colours .....had to adjust my horizontal hold
Fairy .....what a cake ....you should be on GBBO .....still seething after Julia , Yan and Liam were unceremoniously detented
Liri....what are you singing?
So much going on ......hard to keep UP
My apologies for the following but here goes ...
I call this , how the other half live.....it's not a dog's life ....it's a cat's life ...
So I'm out taxing my back sorting out the leaves ..... I'm looking after MIL .....my BH has gone to her yearly session at the sanatorium in a place aptly named Минеральные Воды (Mineral Water) ......Hosta, you will have seen this type of thing on the Simon Reeve program which touched a lot of nerves .....I tried leeches once ...well twice ......too much blood for my liking
I took these pics of the five cats and our little Yorkie....while I take a break ......oh......and the WIP of the leaves clearing

You do realise when you go anywhere , you'll be getting he NT book out and the atlas and working out which you can visit?
Enjoy, we loved it but after a few years we'd seen all we could.

If you fancy going a bit further than Stourhead, we loved Barrington Court.

Hmmm, just went out to hang more washing on the line ... it's getting quite blustery out there now.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
