Sending positive vibes to Pdoc for a full recovery ......in the meantime, there’s another fan of pilates and mindfulness here - quick burst of headspace in the morning sets a good tone for the rest of the day.
Lovely flowers Pat .....hating the time difference here too - very difficult to find a good time to catch up with Chicklet.
Have a great time in Bilbao Obxx and Possum - (only ever been to the airport on the way to Pamplona)......sounds like some fun exploring to be done
Good morning all, from the train. Off to visit Mum and sister, and hopefully have a chat with the manager. Nothing really the matter with Mum's care - but there's been a change of staff and some of the replacements for the lovely Bulgarians, now scared away because of Brexit, don't spend a lot of time talking to the residents or finding things for them to do. Looking after people with dementia is a really difficult job...
That's tough, losing your skinks, Pat. It's hard to watch "nature red in tooth and claw" - I feel the same when our little song birds are predated by the magnificent sparrowhawk.
Fairy, sorry about your disappointing trip. Hope the shoes have dried properly...
Obelixx, hope Bilbao lives up to expectations and the food improves!
Hugs and best wishes to Punkdoc and Mrs PD.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Hi to all best wishes to pdoc and mrs pdoc, hope every one is ok , we are starting to get hot out here temps today is 37c so i am inside. We are having a week away from 10th to the 13th nov then last house sitting for the year.Yes i agree LH must not get a gong but I also hope Chris Froome should not get one as he has never lived in the UK either.
Good morning all , on this Halloween ?, which seems to have replaced Bonfire ? night , shame I used to like bonfire night when I was a younger , gives the Health & Safety police something to do !
GWRS. I was nursing in the Children’s ward one year when it was Cracker night. I’ve never been pleased with fireworks since. I think you have to have been there to appreciate it.
Glenys I was thinking about you last night when watching “A Place in the Sun” - they were in SA. I suspect it was somewhere near you.beautiful coastline.
PatE we do have some beautiful coast line and lovely places to visit we once went on a train ridecalled 9 provinces in 9 days stopping off a different places and the guide was an ex schoolteacherwho was brillant with his knowledge,we went on railtracks thaat was no longer used sometimes we could get out of the train and walk up the track as the train was pulling 16 coaches well worthy the money but they no longer run them
Always preferred Halloween - having pets makes bonfire night a trial rather than a pleasure. I'm far too old to have caught the american 'trick or treat' habit though. It was just carving turnips (that's swede to those of you born the wrong side of the Tamar) into lanterns, eating special food for dinner - mashed toads (mashed potato and green food dye), goats' eye (kiwi fruit) pavlova and drinking dragons' blood (ginger cordial) - and Mum telling us stories about ghosts and witches around the fire with the lights out. The smell of singing turnip brings it all back
Best wishes to Punkdoc
Clari - my impossible dinner guests (a vegetarian who doesn't like vegetables being the worst) are generally invited into the kitchen, given a pizza base and a selection of toppings and told to make their own.
Gardening on the edge of Exmoor, in Devon
“It's still magic even if you know how it's done.”
Pat - both my parents started their careers as SRNs in the 40s and we were never allowed anything other than sparklers. Communal bonfires for us and parents in charge of the fireworks at a safe distance.
Off to explore Bilbao on foot today. Blue skies so should be good. Possum slept a long long time so a late start for us.
See you later. Enjoy your day everyone.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Morning all.
First frost, -2° this morning, but the begonias and Busy-Lizzie's in the pots by the kitchen are still OK.
Morning all.
Dare I say I had a good sleep last night?
More hugs for Punkdoc and Mrs P too.
Another dry morning so I might even move some chippings before heading to the coal face at 12.
