    Morning all.

The walled garden was a bit slow, but beautiful. However more veggie garden and apples than billowing flowerbeds of perennials, which is what I like. Not much commentary.

Not a new pony, LP, she's my daughter's mare, hasn't been ridden for years. 15.2hh, Arab x Lusitano, bit flighty. Daughter of my old mare and a friend's Arab stallion.

Hoping to plant up some pots today, weather looks promising.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Morning all.

Cuppa in bed as Hubby was going to work in the shop.

Someone came into the ( locksmiths ) shop yesterday and asked " do you buy old gold and silver?"

I'm stuck on  the basket/fag counter all afternoon / evening. I have to say, we get the same customers every Tuesday , buying their euro lottery tickets and scratchcards every single week. I find it very depressing. If they stood where I was saying " this one isn't a winner. Shall I destroy it for you ?"  they'd never buy another.

More greyness and rain this morning.

    I really need my holiday.

Hugs for punkdoc if you're looking in.

Hugs too for DD. I'm thrilled for you. x

    Devon.

BL, the walled garden was one programme in a series of "slow" television programmes this week some of which have no commentary.

I got fed up with the tilling and raking of soil and seed sowing/sprouting

Just received the annual mouth and foot painters cards and brochure. I usually send them something, thinking it's a charity. OH has looked them up, it's a scam run by business people in Lichtenstein, which is a tax haven. Very little, maybe 3%, actually goes to handicapped people. It's gone in the bin.

  • Yoga has been my salvation over the last 15 years or so. I am useless at it because I am so stiff jointed(always was even as a child) but as luckily I have found an older teacher who says "don't be put off by the pictures in the books, even if you can only do half the movement its the stretch that counts" Pilates is very similar in fact many of the moves are interchangeable its just whatever suits you. Though I generally don't have trouble sleeping,  I always seem to sleep more soundly and feel more refreshed  after my Monday evening Yoga.  So it might help some of you in more ways than you think. The hardest thing is finding a class at a suitable time with a teachers who's style fits with your capabilities.

Why is the world full of dogma?

We're trying to buy anti malarial pills.

You used to have to pay the Doc £20 for a prescription before you could buy them, now you have to have " a consultation"

Online suppliers insist on the " consultation" before they even give you a price. WHY?

ASDA , ggrrrr  seem the cheapest but they ask how long you're away and they "HAVE TO " sell you what you need for that trip. I've explained we have 2 weeks supply , still in date, from our aborted holiday in January, " No, you've told me how long you're going for , I have to supply enough for the whole of your holidays"

One store says they need proof of ID , another doesn't. They don't ask for proof of the duration of the holiday.

We've decided we don't have much choice but to buy 2 weeks more than we need so next year we'll just lie about how long we're going away.

    grrrrrimage

    Rant over.

  • Hosta, Drug resistant Malaria is as big a  problem as antibiotic resistance & has been a problem for much longer. The rules are there to ensure that people have cover for the whole trip as travellers are notorious for stopping too early and then getting infected at the end of their holiday. Some of the drugs they have to use now can have some quite nasty side effects hence the need for consultation. I used to work with LSHTM on latent malaria in blood donors. Malaria kills more people world wide  every year than all the people who have ever died of  HIV.

    Sorry

That is ridiculous Hosta. There is probably some convoluted reason why they have 'rules' but what happened to common sense?! Most people need a consultation because they can't be trusted to follow the instructions! Do you need any 'jabs' too? That will be more ££ and fuss!

Ian: the garden prog was on BBC4, so its available on iPlayer. I fell asleep, but will re-watch it.

Morning Hosta image   It's because the parasites are developing resistance to the anti-malarial drugs ... I heard something about it on the radio a while back ... so different prescribing practices have been introduced in order to try to prevent this ... has to be a good thing, even if a bit annoying ... don't want the little critters getting the upper hand do we ... what would happen to your sunshine winter breaks then? image
