It's not as if the person at the end of the " online consultation " might just be a sales person with a script. I'm sure they're all qualified Doctors and Pharmacists , aren't they?
Unfortunately the fear of litigation has driven out common sense. I agree it's frustrating they make these "rules" and lack the autonomy or wit or both to actually make a sensible decision. I am battling with my GP at the moment for an eye drop to be put on automatic repeat prescription. They wont do it because the consultant at the eye clinic did not word his letter specifically to say that.
My late mother in law had a condition called " dry eye" she produced no tears and , as such, required drops daily, for ever, no cure, it's not going " to get better"
Receptionist at Docs' said " she's had too many repeat prescriptions ,she must come and see the doctor"
" She's 82 and , check her records, she has dementia and hasn't left the house in over 2 years"
" No, she has to see a doctor"
" Fine, let's arrange a home visit"
" ................. I'll speak to the Doctor and have a prescription dispensed"
Or take a mosquito net? You can leave it behind for grateful locals to use. IKEA in Belgium used to do them for about a fiver - damp country so mozzies in many areas but just the itching kind..
I can't give blood because I had malaria as a baby - born in the bottom end of Tanganyika so two rainy seasons and 2 lots of mosquito bites a year and now the Belgians and French refuse OH's blood too cos of mad cows in the late 80s, quietly forgetting all the poor beasts they didn't report.
I used to be very flexible and partially double jointed in my youth. It's coming back to bite me now with arthritic bits but I haven't found a yoga class here yet.
I have had a fairly sleepless night worrying about what is going on with Possum. Too old for tantrums. Very frustrating. However, the carpenters have been here all morning and are going great guns with the cladding and I have finally finished the Star Wars thing except for needing some twine to wrap and glue on the belt. I can buy that on the way home form fetching the tiles for the shower room this pm.
Great that you are so busy DD. That mare sounds like a lovely mix Busy but, as you say, a bit lively if not ridden for some time. I've bought our Xmas cards form the RHS this year. LP - hope the soreness fades.
Hugs to all who need some loving and greetings to everyone else. Hope your day goes well.

Because it's not people who don't take anti-malarial meds who are contributing to the spread of the resistance, but it's the people who don't use them properly ... just as has happened with antibiotics ... so the responsible thing to to is to try to ensure that everyone who does take them takes them properly ... and we know that you two are responsible and do things properly but unfortunately procedures have to be devised so they cover the irresponsible, stupid and ignorant ones too ... even if that costs a bit more ... but don't worry, when I'm in charge of everything (and it must be my turn soon) I'll give you a dispensation chit.

Iain, I know all of that.
If I've gone to the bother of researching which anti-malarials I need and am prepared to buy them, doesn't that show commitment enough?
They seem to require no proof of the duration, or location of the holiday.
I told the pharmacist that I'm happy to take along the unused pills to show him they're still " in date " but no, that's not enough. Why?
The cynic in me thinks it's all a way of sucking more money out of customers.
Hosta .... you cynical????????? Never

Dove.
I'm happy to be a cynic.
It's the poor gullible fools at the other end of the scale, who accept everything offered to them and accept it as fact and logic that I pity.
Back to bed and get out the other side Hosta ((hugs))

Can I clarify, there's no legal requirement for anyone to even take anti malarials.
Under the circumstances, why not make the system easy, and as cheap as possible, to follow?
