Glad you're ok Fairy ((hugs)) ... I did wonder ... the news reports said it'd been a bit grim up in those hilly bits of yours.

Oh Fairy what a shame, it was such a lovely day!  Sorry but no cake left to share out..........they took it with them!

Yesterday was lovely, bright with the odd bit of sun, albeit chilly, but pretty normal for this time of year. Lovely clear skies on the way up the road, and Rannoch Moor and the Black Mount hills looked bonny - all the photographers were out in force! Saturday was looking a bit rough in the hills - and it was quite windy here unless you were sheltered. The only snow at the weekend was really up in the Cairngorms. Some forecast for this weekend though.

Grass was sparkly and white this morning - looked pretty. All my little 'plantings' I did on Saturday looked happy enough though   image

Such is life LP - I'm still here to tell the tale though, which is the main thing. I had to console myself with some croissants and a cuppa for dinner, although birthday cake would have been nice...image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Evening all.  Currently sat in the hotel in Bilbao and heading for bed early as we're both tired.  Up early for planes and long motorway slogs but at least it was sunny and the roads were clear apart from roadworks so long spells of 90kph.   I arrived just after 6 and, after unpacking, we went for a stroll before heading to a recommended tapas & eats bar.  Possum had squid croquettes - pappy - and I tried cod Vilsomething which turned out to be a cod steak with a bland tomato-ish sauce, spiceless padrano peppers and cold elvers.    I don't do eel in any shape or form.   The patatas bravas were good tho.

Tomorrow we're exploring Bilbao and seeing sights.  It's an attractive looking place with some gorgeous old buildings and reminds me of Genoa - lots of tunnels through the mountains and then driving pas people's bedroom windows on elevated sections.

DL - Never mind tax exiles!  No knighthoods for toe-rags and LH is definitely an unpleasant piece of work.

Busy - when I ordered a pork joint with the skin in Belgium they very proudly gave me the joint with the skin separate.   Stuck to slabs of belly pork after that cos they come with skin attached.  Sounds like a good day even if it didn't go to plan.

LP - sounds like you had a good day too.  FG - sorry you got soggy feet.

Clari - a burger is minced meat!  You could be really naughty and get them to make their own burgers and tomato ketchup as a project one day.   Just buy the mince and loads of tomatoes and cook em down with some onions and spices and a bit of vinegar.  Or just get some chips from the chippy.

Pdoc - viruses, as you know, are tricky blighters so you need to be disciplined about resting and also being positive.   Don't let the b*stards get you down.  Hugs to your long suffering missus who will need lots of comfort while you work your way thru this.

    Good night all.   Sweet dreams.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Hope you enjoy Bilbao, Obelixx and that tomorrow's eatery is better.

Fairy, dental work won't cost much as son is the dentist and he says he owes me a birthday present. image

    Sleep well all.

    Morning all.

Clari, you brought back a memory for me with you thoughts on relaxing yoga. Some years ago I attended a yoga class, and when they got to the total relax and eyes closed bit, I got tapped on the shoulder and told that my snoring was disturbing the others image couldn’t do one without the other.image

Fairy, so sorry your day didn’t work out. I was looking forward to some new photos. image

Lilyp, sorry I missed your birthday. Belated wishes for you.

Dove, we often get parrots whacking into Windows, but not all break their necks. I’ve had to put a few into a safe cage until they get their wits sorted out. They I open up the cage and let them go.

I‘m still upset about that Goanna cleaning out my little colony of Cunningham’s Skinks. Mum Skink poked her nose out from under the chest freezer (that is stored in that back area) yesterday afternoon. She was very cautious to show more than her nose and eyes for a long while, but eventually got out into the sun. I’ve only seen two babies, but more might be in hiding. No sign of Dad Skink and large baby who usually laze on a rock in the sun outside our bedroom window.  There’s not much I can do.

Punkdoc, my thoughts are still with you and Mrs Punkdoc. If only thoughts and good wishes could reach you.

I’m still finding it irritating that while it is 1pm here and my day is well under way, it’s 2am there. By the time you are posting messages, we are organising the evening meal and the evening viewing is upon us.image

Catch you all later. Sorry for those I’ve missed.

    Morning all!

Ob; I was tempted to be very naughty and make homemade burgers with MINCED BEEF AND some spicy meatballs with MINCED BEEF AND puree some vegetables in for added colour.

Still; they're coming next weekend now so I've more time to think up my mischief.

Today is the last day in the old office: the one that resides next to drug dealing, squatting, general anti social behaviour area of town, and for which has a plan for demolition but as tennents they won't tell us when... Can't say I'm going to miss it!

Today is also flu jab day (nipping over to Boots in my lunch break). Is this the trick or the treat?
