I have Cream Beauty Dove- one of my favourites  image

Sailboat is one I considered too, but there are so many, it's impossible. You could spend a fortune on them! Hope the tennis goes well - mind that dodgy foot etc....image

Can I move in with you Joyce? It's currently 8 degrees here  image

I only  have the heating on for a while in the morning fro getting up, but I had it on for a little while the last couple of nights because it really has been chilly through the day and the house is cold by teatime.

Hosta - you need a little flock of sheep...image

Rubbish, isn't it Joyce! The birds have got wellies on....image

We had quite a good spell this time last year - we usually do get a decent spell of weather through September and into October. I think we're paying for the drier, warmer March and April image

    Sounds a good haul, Dove.

I don't plant bulbs in winter pots, the flowers don't last very long and the leaves get messy. I plant bulbs in the flower beds and the other plants grow up and hide the dying bulb leaves. Or I plant them in the grass, mostly narcissi and daffodils. I have pansies, violas and bellis daisies in pots, they look good until I plant the summer bedding. But I've only just started as some of the summer bedding still looks good.

Quite a nice day today. Have been stacking logs.

Your bulb list sounds exciting, Dove.  It's lovely to have something to look forward to, when winter is upon us...  I'm expecting some bulbs by post in the next couple of weeks.  Rather more than I'd intended... think I got a bit carried away...  image  The order includes Leucojum and Camassia, which I've wanted for a while.

I managed to get the tenant's boiler going again.  The water pressure had dropped in the boiler, so it was an easy matter to find the valve to let more water in, and hey presto! a warm house and hot water.  image  However, there is a small water leak, so our friendly boiler man will be seeing if he can repair it in the next few days.

Just made some flapjack for OH's packed lunches.  Wonder if he'll notice if some disappears before he gets his hands on it...

Busy, the squirrels dig up bulbs from the ground hence pots with wire mesh for protection until the bulbs are through.  I then do a "plant pot shuffle" and move the spring flowering pots round the back of the house and replace them with the eucomis etc which are also in pots.

We only have red squirrels. They are very shy and don't come into the garden.

The reds are lovely.  Wish we had more of them in the UK.

Our squirrels dig up crocuses, and especially love muscari.  And something has been eating my alliums...  image
