A new visitor to my garden this morning, the "Map butterfly", Araschnia levana. An interesting feature of this butterfly is that it has a Spring brood and a Summer brood, with different colours/patterns! More at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Map_(butterfly)
I bought a UV torch on a whim that it would help locate vine weevils but sadly the weevils don't show up well enough for it to be of use. Spiders on the other hand positively glow. I need to work on the settings a bit but it could make for some interesting photos.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Bit busy and burned out for bug bothering at the moment but this Angle Shades moth showing off its camouflage on a teasel was too good not to take a photo. Species 286 for the garden.

Didn't know what this was so ran to tell Mr Clogs about it and described it as a Moth that looked like a Hummingbird. Imagine my surprise to find that a Hummingbird Hawk Moth is a thing! Fabulous creature, has had me smiling all day 😊
