  • I have never witnessed that @FlyDragon so thank you for sharing these amazing pictures.  We are short of Ladybirds in our garden, I really do miss them - we used to have them all over the place when I was a child.

Thanks Guernsey, a couple of hours later he was fully red with his black spots, but he flew off before I could get the final ‘after’ picture!
  • Never mind @FlyDragon, you managed to capture the interesting first stages, which are very rarely seen.

Amazing. I have seen one ladybird this year. Not in my garden.

Wow, Flydragon, I never knew they did that, which shows the level of my entomological knowledge. Great shots. They seem a bit scarce around here this year, despite what felt like millions of harlequins invading the house and garage last winter. Think the spiders ate them...

    Sharing supper:

Or maybe not...the  [how many?] Spot Burnet soon saw of the butterfly...

Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.

Is it a cricket or a grasshopper @Papi Jo? I always thought crickets have the the longer antennae.

Today's been really good for butterflies in the garden:
Two small Tortoiseshell with at least one camped in the garden all day, a small white, a large white, a gatekeeper, an Ivy blue and a Meadow brown.
