    Could anyone advise on this? I found it on the back of a bay leaf. It looks a bit like wasp cells. The structure is all of one piece; the cells hollow and empty. They are not eggs, as they might appear. The black bits you can see inside the cells are just detritus, I think. I'm not sure if the white silky stuff has anything to do with the structure or came later. The black blob at the top is some kind of poo.

    Love this thread, but not had much to contribute lately, everything seems to be in hiding... but here is a scarce swallowtail:
