Typical bureaucracies, IMO. Disgusting behaviour, Hosta.

The council were useless when I had to find a flat too, they seem to hate care leavers

Pansy I fear you are probably right.   Have you tried doing holiday lets Hosta?  Loads more rent per week it's let, especially if you put in a dishwasher and washing machine.  Have to weigh up pros and cons I suppose.

It's drismal here with wet air again.  Not the promised rain yet.  No odds to me as it's a sewing day cos I have a fine blister on my palm from making bulb planting holes with a trowel.   Not so good for holiday makers at the beaches but OK for OH who is used to playing golf in Belgium and mostly being wet.

Pat - your jonquil is lovely.  Hope it survives the night - or you could cut it for indoors and save it.

I need a coffee so I can read back properly.  Catch you later.

Hostafan, my Daughter has problem with the boot on the other foot, she moved into her present house, privately rented 6 years ago, with a baby, another one in the oven, AND a boy friend who couldnt keep it in his trousers!  So she  threw him out, took over the rent, for all these years.  Now new bloke, she wants to marry this one, went to letting agent to get him put in he tenancy.  First they were told the lg, had "lost" the photocopies of his bank card, statement and wage slip, she complained to the manager and ombudsman who deals with data protection.  Couple of weeks later, LA deneys they ever went into the office with said documents, AND hadnt paid relevent fees for credit chacks, (manely £250 for a £10 check) they had been told by the bloke they orginally saw the checks wouldnt need to take place because she has rented for the past 6 years, always paying rent on time etc. THEN she was told by la, SHE had to pay for checks for her as well, at this point contacted landlord, who is nice guy.  He said leave it to him.  A couple more weeks go by, he hasnt received promised call-back from la, tells me daughter it is fine, move boyfriend in, but she wants his name on the tenancy.LA was really rude and nasty to her the other day, said even when she has the checks, they might not like the result or allow her to stay.  Lanlord involved once more, unfortunately he doesnt live near and works full time, because I said the only way it seems it will be sorted is if they go into la offices together.  She is terrible upset, (of course) so he cant move in, they want to get out now had enough, BUT to start again with another la will cost them £5.000, for new credit checks, deposit and fees, which they havent got.  The deposit on her current place was paid by ex-boyfriends Father and belongs to him.  She was told when she had been in the town for 5 years she could put her name down for social housing, (she was ACTUALLY born in this town) so off she went after the 5 years, has a 2 bedroom house boy and girl 6 and 7 sharing because she cannt afford extra £400 a month for another bedroom, to be told she has no housing need, buzz off.  This is the same council, who aidentally kept my hubbies name on his ex-wifes tenancy, when he moved in with me, luckily, we had got a solicitor to put in wirting he had moved out of the property they rented together.  6 months down the line, she hadnt pai any rent, so they tried to make him pay, course, he had papaerwork to prove he was living with me.  So have almost been in a similar position as her. Such a mess!
