BL your family visit must have been whilst I was down helping son and did with newbie, hope all well

i should also have given a hug to LG it is a huge deal.  I remember the day vividly,  parents were dead calm. There had been a rather nasty burglary which left them feeling vulnerable so everyone knew the time was right.

BL, kangaroo vs rabbits - I don't know. Rabbits dig leg-breaking holes all over the place, kangaroos break branches off young plants. Hares like nibbling the stems around the base of plants, wallabies like eating flowers and they are champion jumpers, so can get into all sorts of garden beds.  There are feral deer in neighbouring properties, but we haven't seen them on our place. There are also feral pigs which dig big areas for rolling in. We have been told that there are herds of feral goats in the hills around here too, but because we are rather keen on goats, don't feel happy that authorities shoot them from helicopters. image We used to keep angora goats.  Farmers put baits out to kill foxes and then have to,introduce diseases to kill rabbits because they not being controlled by foxes.

    It never ends.

You've kind of summed up the vicious circle there Pat!

Thanks for the hugs, everyone. I've known it was coming for a long time and I have a house full of memories (ie: more furniture than we have room for!), loads of photos and lots of cuttings. It was time (mum died a few years ago, brother has been living there since) and I am at peace with it. The thought of never going inside or seeing the garden again is very sad after all this time, especially as we have reason to believe the new owners will change it beyond all recognition, but it's OK.

LP the alarm clock is still in daily use, I'm afraid - with kids of 11 and 13 I'm not off the hook yet! Even now we're in the summer holidays they're doing early-ish stuff for the next two weeks. But I am having a lovely time apart from that fact, don't doubt it. Enjoy the Moscow family visit.

BL I hope you get your quiet day. Remind OH about the need to stop and stare... image.

Good luck with the packing, Dove. I also thought it had been postponed.
