Good afternoon all.  We have a seasonable 21C here but have only had 3mm of rain and not the promised 8.5!  More dribbles going on but again, nothing like they promised.   We have been and done a raid on the SM and a DIY store for supplies for the weekend of rellies.   Senior SIL thinks she doesn't do spices or curry so I'm going to creep up on her with a chicken pastilla for lunch after they  arrive tomorrow and then Spanish hake with a smidge of chilli for dinner.

Called Possum when we got back and she's passed all her exams - again.   This follows a couple of years where she lost her way thanks to a completely unsuitable, disastrously needy and manipulative boyfriend.   Thank goodness she's coming out of that now.  It also means we get her all summer and no hassles with re-sits.   She wants to learn to paint furniture and I will also teach her to sew if I can.   She doesn't do gardening, especially now she knows there are snakes but she has started growing herbs in pots........   Slowly slowly catchee monkey.

Chicky - hope Chicklet survives without too much stress.   You too..  Nearly done now.

Dove - there's tennis at Eastbourne!    Joyce - glad you had a good sleep.  Hosat - can't bear F1 racing - nasty, noisy, smelly stuff ful of unpleasant people, including commentators and managers.

Busy - I'm sure other stuff will be on point for your OG.   There's always something "you should have been here last week" in my experience and something else that takes it place.

Have a good day all and success with your projects.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Obs, when hubby bought his Honda Civic, the dealer was telling him of the option to switch from automatic to "manual" where he could change gears with " flappy paddles"

Dealer " are you fans of the Formula 1?"

Me " If I ever want to watch cars going round and round in circles for hours on end , I'll stand on a flyover above the M25"

    He didn't mention it again.

    Well done Possum.

We've had a huge storm, lots more rain was really dark. Lost Internet for a bit. Daughter, south of Poitiers rang and said they'd hardly had any rain. She's desperate for it, she sowed all her new lawns in the autumn and has planted lots of roses.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I'm sure Wonky was a positive angel, Dove...  image  I remember my daughter bringing home an entirely unsuitable boyfriend once, a wastrel with no redeeming features as far as OH and I were concerned, and who would eat nothing but potatoes, cheese and pizza.  It was such a relief when they split up!  The hubby she ended up with is a delight.  Perhaps everyone has to find someone who suits them, the hard way...

This morning I tweaked something low down in my back, putting on a sock.  How stupid!  I can feel a sort of knot next to my spine, so I'm slapping on ibuprofen gel.  I'm ok standing or walking slowly, and managed to pick the raspberries in the rain this morning (rain up the sleeves - lovely - not!) but had to leave the few remaining strawberries for the squirrels.  image
