P'doc ... here's my list .... small roasting chicken, new potatoes, milk, coffee, emery boards, toothpaste, bread, tomatoes, muesli, yoghurt, and a tub of that posh vanilla custard to make a gooseberry fool .... don't be too long, I'll put the kettle on .........
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Good morning all, from the wet and misty Pennines.
Hope the weather doesn't turn too cold, Pat; I guess your forecasters are a bit like ours in telling you the "worst case scenario", in case they get into trouble for getting it seriously wrong. (That happened in 1987 in Britain when the south of England had a hurricane which uprooted hundreds of mature trees and damaged a lot of buildings. The forecaster who'd said, a few hours before, "Don't worry - it's not a hurricane" came in for a lot of criticism afterwards. A bit unfair really - he didn't make it happen, after all!)
The wet is welcome here, except for the encouragement it gives to the slugs. We've been eating remarkably hole-free strawberries up to now.
Rebecca, I have a constant-companion cat. Not huge like a Maine Coon, but addicted to sleeping next to - or on, depending on temperature - my head at night, and currently sitting on the table next to this computer with her tail draped over the keyboard.
How did it get to 11am already?? Time for a coffee, I think...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Well, we had a flash of lightning and a thunderclap about half an hour ago so OH and I got the washing in ... then there was nothing until just now, when some very fine rain started ... and now more rumbles from above ...

Our weather forecast is very volatile at the mo but not our weather. However, the storms forecast for here have clearly hit other parts of the Vendée because we have had no internet for 24 hours cos of storm damage....... We have had a couple of showers. That's it. We do now have normal June temps hovering about 20C which is very comfy for pottering.
Anyway, spent my day painting things and walls and giving houseplants a shower and tidy up and top dressing as needed. OH has done all the ironing and then rotavated a 7m x 3 m bed in the potager which will become 2 squares and a central path for growing sweetcorn and squashes. Another will follow for beans next spring and then I'll have a rotation.
Have read back but 3 pages have befuddled me so I'll just say hello everyone and I hope all are well and those who aren't are improving and finding solutions to aches, pains and worries.

Afternoon all.
Busy busy busy. I now have over 600 years of award medals to sort out for my volunteers! This is going to involve a lot of hand shaking.
Much cooler here today, jumper weather. Suddenly everything feels.... grey. Like the colour of the world has been washed away.
