LillyP, your eye situation sounds quite severe. I can tell that you're trying not to make a fuss but it seems like quite a big deal to me. How can it have gone to the other eye (maybe I've missed a post)? Am I right in thinking it was euphorbia sap?
I had my older daughter in the heatwave of early August 2003: 35°+ I think the heat contributed to her early arrival. It was impossible to follow all the rules about not letting babies overheat, but we did our best... which then led to jaundice because she wasn't getting enough sunlight!
Lovely temperature overnight, we all slept. Today is going to be interesting.

Topbird Those were the days ... lots of joss sticks, definitely ... I was the skinny hippy chick with long pre-raphaelite hair and a baby clamped to my bosom, in the middle of a big circle of people, singing the whole of American Pie when the chap with the guitar forgot the words (that's me singing, not Wonky ... she hadn't quite learned the words by then).
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I was also a skinny chick with flowing locks - wafting around in my blue cheesecloth gypsy dress - trying felafal burgers for the first time. Don't remember hearing you singing - but I could have joined in - also word perfect for the entire song. We could have done a duet
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

By the way, the primulas you gave us are blooming beautifully at the far edge of the pond, their roots bedded into the rocks at the edge. The grasses are growing well and are going to look fabulous, and did you see my potted hostas?

I was there Dove - I remember lots of vegetarian food stalls and the smell of joss sticks (or was it wacky baccy?) drifting on the wind.
I did my A levels in '76 - it was sweltering locked in the school gym - far too hot to concentrate properly. Sympathy for the kids doing it this year.
Sorry to hear about your other eye Lily.

Morning all.
Dove says " Downstairs and breakfasting on sofa ..."
I'm just having some toast.
Another divine sunny day. At least I'm home working in the garden and not listening to folk winging about it being " toooooooooooooo hot"
Hosta!
