P'doc ... yes, I heard that on R4 this morning ...... huge sadness and anger here too .... I can't imagine how people involved are feeling ..... and as for the  immense courage of the firefighters who kept going back into that blazing building ... there aren't words enough!!!

Watched the last Springwatch last night ... so sad about the wagtails nest ... but Jays have to live too ... image  and the peregrines and those baby swallows ..... fantastic!!!  image

And I so want to go to Porton Down ... and yet I'm glad I can't because if I and others could go there it wouldn't be as it is.

Was showing our friends round the ruin yesterday and found about 10 beautifully made swallow nests in different rooms so we didn't hang about very long, just in case.  No noise form cheeping chicks tho so maybe already fledged tho we do see adults going in and out thru the windows.   Haven't seen anyone's babies tho we do hear a lot.

Re the fire - I don't understand how any building can be clad with a materiel that hasn't been thoroughy tested for fire behaviour.  That stuff behaved like polystyrene ceiling tils which were banned long ago.  Nor do I understand how one flight of stairs can be deemed adequate to evacuate a tall building in the dark with people panicking.   Sprinklers seem to be an obvious necessity.

    I'll shut up now.

Off to La Rochelle today as P &E have never been this far south in France.   Les Sables d'Olonne tomorrow so we ca do the fish market as they love fish and shellfish.   Yum.

Now to water treasures before we go.

Have a lovely day, whatever you're doing.  Hope OH is OK Joyce and that you are sleeping well.

Spring watch , not watched all the programmes but I do like it

At lot of Cathedrals have peregrine falcons nesting on them and some cameras so you can veiw them

Hope the Public equity into the fire doesn't take to long , at least it is being chaired by a Judge , so we should known what happened

    Good morning,

Punk, hang on in there.  I have found myself thinking too much recently. Sometimes it's better not to!

Obelixx sometimes we have swallows in the woodshed sometimes we dont. I dont understand how they can be living in different places?

Joyce hope OH gets home this weekend and is feeling better for his treatment

re perigrine falcons we have two locally, they have been here the 11 years I have. Can set my watch for them at 4pm every afternoon   Everything else disappears! Our blue tits are still being fed by mum and they are hilarious, 4 fat balls demolished in 4 days!  Lots of wagtails here.

heading off to look for nice round posts to place around the ponds   We need to make them safe now gc are growing up  I am looking  for the "log" type ones the NT use  I may be gone  some timeimage

Does anyone else have a problem with notifications? Mine have all stopped and I can't work out why. Have tried resetting

I only use Notifications for PMs ....... that bit seems to be working ok.

Just heard the Queen and Prince William are visiting the survivors ... it takes a 90 year old woman to show the PM how to behave ... shame on her.

Hmmm ... just seen the PM rushing into one of the hospitals to visit survivors .... an hour after the Queen arrived at the relief centre   ....... coincidence???

Her excuse for not seeing survivors yesterday was 'security' .......... and that doesn't apply to the Queen? image

I'm getting very cynical in my old age ...

    Cynical? you Dove? Surely not.

Clearly Me Me Mayhem just can't be ars*d meeting poor people. She never has in the past , why should she start now? especially as  Kensington is now a Labour seat.

One thing's for certain Hosta ... if this had happened 8 days earlier she wouldn't be having to prostitute her government to the DUP ... she and her party would have been out on their collective ears.
