    Clarington says:

.... rhubarb and crumble ice cream. Might be awesome, might be awful! I need to find more inventive ways to use it up before it just goes straight in the freezer!

OH is going to come and help you Clari ...... he's just getting his bike out ................

Fairy, at this time of year some pigeons seem to think they're still brooding eggs, even when they're off the nest and their mate is taking his turn ... they just sit as if in a stupor ........ apparently the males sit on the eggs from about 10am to 5pm, and the females do the rest of the time.

That's exactly what it was like Dove. He had a drink, and I thought he was going for a bath...but he just sat on the shelf. He must have had a cold bum after that!   image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Evening all!

Just had tea after a day's singing in York, now slumped in front of the telly.  Had time to water the veg and open the grow house before leaving this morning, and close it back up just now - the rest of the gardening jobs (lots of pricking out and potting on to do!) will have to wait.  image

Tomorrow I'm going to Harlow Carr with the local oldies' gardening group.  image  Should be lovely - forecast is dry, though not specially sunny.  They have a lawn planted with camassias which I'm looking forward to seeing.  (Your beautiful tulip meadow reminded me to look, Chicky.)

Glad you're feeling a bit better Fairy.  Take it easy!

Wish we had delivery drivers as conscientious as Hosta...

Topbird, Fidget, Fairy, Dove, Obelixx, Sussexsun - and no doubt lots of others I've forgotten - sounds as if you've all had a lovely day in the garden.  image

BL - when we had a boat on the Broads a couple of years ago we spent several nights just on the mud weight in the middle of the Broad which extends from Fairhaven. Sheer Bliss - no neighbours except ducks, swans and the occasional otter and total, deep silence.image

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Treated ourselves to Chinese take out also - a reward after the Aunty-ing duties! Was a sunny afternoon so lots of pottering occurred. I fell asleep on a deck chair - must have been exhausted as they are not comfortable! Looking forward to my bed tonight - and with no danger of a toddler sneaking in at 3 am ?

Obxx - meadow gets mowed in late June, then kept short for the rest of the year.  More tulips get planted each autumn, but she thinks some are coming back every year.  Delightful feature, and the  camassias really set it off.  I only discovered camassias a couple of years ago - Windsor parks dept plant them en masse to take over from the daffs on the grass verges and in the parks.....I think they're great image

Back from Nottingham, Chickletlessimage.  Had a great lunch in front of the castle in a pub that has embraced the pavement cafe culture.  On a day like today it was perfect image

Travelling to the US with work this week (New Jersey, nothing glamorous), so won't be round much to miss her.

Listened to some GQTs in the car ......did you go to the snape one Dove ?

Evening all, hello Pat image read back pages and everyone's busy and eating yummy food! Lots of gardening done too!

I've been gardening all weekend, nice to work in my own garden for a change! Weather has been cloudy but dry, chilly though. Planted the planter with Larkspur and night scented stocks, planted cosmos in two others, 3 window boxes of sweet peas and two more with stocks. Potted on 30 more cosmos, planted divided rudbeckias , veronica and scabious. Watered everything, weeded, mowed lawn. Cooked roast chicken, baked rhubarb and custard cake, tested said cake...image made packed lunches and have finally sat down!

    Safe travels Chicky!

Clari, loving the sound of the icecream! image

Chicky - I had a ticket but it was recorded the day after my car starter motor packed up image  Son wanted to come and fetch me, but he can't really afford not to be working when work is available, and I have been to other recordings ...

Wonky - glad you've had a good weekend - the weather should start warming up by midweek ... apparently ... image .... image

  • It's been so windy here today, my new phlox has snapped before I got the chance to stake it image image

But I did get all the new ferns and huecheras I bought last weekend planted yesterday. It's looking rather nice down there now
