    Evening all.

Just back from the city, after a meal in a new restaurant called Joro. Run by a group of young guys who like to forage, out in Derbyshire and the food was great.

Not seen much of Chelsea yet, but I know there were major issues, in that big sponsors did not want to commit money, just after the BREXIT vote.

There is obviously a trend away from "garden" gardens and towards landscape pastiches. Surely there should be room for both.

I heard Chris Beardshaw being very damning about the judges on last night's programme. I have always found him intelligent, thoughtful and with bucket loads of horticultural knowledge.

No doubt he will win the peoples choice best garden.

I've just voted for the lovely Chris.

Isn't if funny folk never complain about the judges decision when they get gold.

Hi everyone. Having a lovely slow morning today and managed to read back all your doings. Lilyp, I hope that eye continues to improve - such a worry!

Our temps are getting colder while yours seem to be hurrying to summer (as it should be).

hope you all have a good sleep.

Good morning all image  G'day Pat image

Another gorgeous morning here, after a very warm night ... all the upstairs windows open and slept under a sheet.

MORNING Pat! Im not sure we're hurrying to sumner it feels like someone suddenly found the switch and bang it's here!

Yesterday was the hottest day in May for many years (since 1944), today may well be hotter. It has made me realise just how varied May can be; I still remember "treating myself" to having the fire on the day my birthday plans were cancelled by snow.

Well yesterday I wore a skirt and bare legs to work, might have to do the same today as my suit though light; just the idea of it feels too hot. I'm meeting my mentor today but at least the meeting won't be 6.5 hours like last week. Let's see what she thinks to the changes I'm ploughing through with; I don't think it'll all be smiles but there's a job to do and seeing as how I spent my birthday recommissioning a toilet I think proves that I am most definayely hands on and up for a challenge

MORNING Dove! I'm declaring the weekend washing the duvets and pillows time. If bare knees aren't a sign of summer trying to hang a wet duvet on the line definately is! (Am I alone in getting a little excited about the idea of fresh pillows?)

His lordship returns on Saturday from a week of an air conditioned hotel bedroom. I think our room that gets the sun on it all day will be a bit of a shock. Even the very needy Reggie has decided it's a no go zone.

In laws are coming over on Monday; I need to start thinking of a suitable feast. I'll be getting the ice cream maker ready for some experiments tonight.

    Morning all/afties Pat.

Dull and a bit humid here, same as yesterday, although it's drier today so far. It got to about 17 degrees yesterday, but it's supposed to be a bit nicer today. Thundery stuff for the weekend though. Monday night I had all the lights on at about half six because the sky was so dark and then the heavens opened. It's given all the plants a boost though.

Hope your eye improves soon LP.That's really quite horrific for you image

Congrats to LG and Clari on getting paid. How ridiculous that we should have to say that. Your wage should have been there in full when you left.

Re Chelsea - I think the problem with medals of any kind, in any area, is that the differences can be absolutely tiny. They can't give everyone a gold. It's a show and all shows (of any kind) are like that. It's also 'theatre' - and a place for ideas and to show what can be done. My issue is with the coverage, rather than what's there.

Better go and organise myself for another hectic day. Doesn't get any easier image

    Morning all.

My understanding is, that most folk fall down on " not sticking to their brief". It was said that Chris Beardshaw's planting was a little too dense. I think, on balance, that might well be a fair point. I know it's planted for " show not grow" but there comes a point where it might be a wee bit "crammed"?? Just trying for balance. I still love it and voted for it in " People's Choice"

I loved the little Japanese garden which had the most realistic waterfall I've ever seen .

I thought his planting last year was better - more measured. But it's still more interesting than the others to a British gardener. The only other one I'd consider is the szechuan one. I don't like the big fin things - much too dominant for my taste, but the plants are interesting from a gardener's perspective
