I gave OH a new weather station for his birthday, but to be honest, it's at least as much for me as for him.  I keep dropping hints about it being more useful if he takes it out of the box... so far he hasn't taken the hint.  image

Inspired by your lovely OH, Dove, I'm going out to plant the runner beans.  It's not yet June; hope they don't turn up their toes...

Worrying if your OH starts wandering regularly at night, Joyce.  You can get a pressure mat which can hide below a bedside mat, but which will activate a buzzer if someone steps on it.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

OH is now watering plants on his own initiative image

I've found they learn by osmosis Dove.image

My OH can now identify a variety of ecclesiastical and architectural features and has learned how to spot potentially 'good' churches for me to visit. Often comes back from a bike ride saying "Have you been to..."

He can also identify several plants and understands some of the basics such as composting, watering etc although I have yet to persuade him to do it. He's happier cooking dinner while I do all that stuff.

Hope you're feeling a little better today. I have done little except a bit of washing (ie loaded the machine and hung out the items) and eating ice lollies.

Starting to look a bit black on the horizon...

    Evening all.

I've no chance of getting Hubby interested in the garden. He likes it too look " nice " but he hates getting dirty and I know he'd rather be doing something else, pretty much anything else, than gardening.

Is it my imagination, or are we getting a lot of " I've got this problem, what can I do with it? I've got no money and can't do any of the work " kinda topics?

We  have many skills, but I'm unaware of anyone with a magic wand.

No magic wands here, just plugging away at it a bit at a time.   That's why it's so good to come ger for affirmation and encouragement and commiserations as the case may be.

I have had to retreat form planting as they thought it was too hot so I pottered off and tidied up the garage so all my pots and trays are stashed but handy if needed.  All that's left to clear out now is the furniture that needs sanding again and then a feed of special oils and a final rub down before itgets moved indoors to a clean room for painting or lime washing or lime waxing.

Found a lovely long narrow table base in the ruin with a top cobbled together form an old door.  Used as a workbench.  If I can get the top off and clean up the legs and find a new top we've got ourselves a refectory table for the party/meetings barn.   We have swallows nesting in the ruin so I've shooed Minstrel out and closed up the doors.   They're flying in through empty window panes.

No swifts or house martins tho.   I wonder where the hoopoes nest.

OH has taken the dogs out so I can do some more planting and then start dinner before having a well earned shower.

Joyce - a bit worrying about OH going for a wander.  Hope it was a one off.

Hidden Gardens was great - bit soggy at times, but we just carried on .....as my Grandma used to point out in rainstorms .."you won't melt"

Came home and spent an hour uploading about 10 photos on here image  The picture threads are becoming almost impossible for me to use, which is a shame as they were the ones I used to enjoy the most image  Might have to save my pennies for a new iPad (Nora's only suggested solution)

Then had a potting on session in the GH.  Managed to convince myself that not all my babies needed to be grown on ......maybe 40 rudbeckias is enough for one garden image  So hard to abandon them thoughimage

How very kind - are you after something?   image

I've noticed a lot of queries from 'across the pond'.

I'd like a wand, but there's fat chance of that unfortunately! Been outside all day and got loads of little things done. That seed sowing malarkey takes forever. The upside of that pottering was watching all the birds flit in and out the feeder. I think they're eating more than they do in winter - those little 'uns must be greedy little beggars!  Mr Sparrow was feeding a youngster yesterday but I didn't get a decent pic.

Lots of potting on for me too chicky - mainly rescuing things that have been languishing for a while  image

I know what you mean about the photos. I supposed I've got used to it because I sort all my walking ones automatically, but the resizing of the ones you want to keep is a bit of a pain. I don't do walk reports on the walk site I use though - that takes even longer. It's a real faff. image

Could do with you to do my sanding and painting Obelixx. Your swallow/martin talk reminded me that the bats were skitting about when I got home on Friday night - it wasn't pitch black, just turning. Really lovely end to the day.

Joyce  image Is that a regular thing with OH ? Hope you're ok.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
