Fairy, it's still at the Racecourse. I used to go as it was a good day out and daughter loved it when she was young. For everyone's sake it would be fine if the rain was overnight.

It's looking a bit hit and miss at the moment for it. Pity it hadn't been last weekend.

I remember being at Lanark County show ( early May ) on a couple of occasions when it was snowing -also racecourse.   image

The chance of us getting any rain at all for the next week reduces every time I look at the Met Office website.image

Now down to a 40% chance of light rain on Friday at 4pm - dry again within a couple of hours.

I am going to have plan a BBQ to get the garden wateredimage

The spiraea now has legs and looks a great deal better.  image

The midges must be starving.  They've been biting me today through carefully-applied Avon jollop.  Might have to revert to horrible DEET...  image

Liri - apparently they're predicting a record amount of midges here this summer. 21 billion females (which are the ones who suck your blood)  and a total of 69 billion in total for the Highlands and Islands....

....better stock up when you go to the cottage!

    Or get one of these

The little blighters really do spoil our summers.  We invested in a midge eater a few years ago and we think it has made a difference to our sitting area.  Doesn't really go further than that tho!

TB - organise a picnic and a BBQ and plan to hang out lots of washing.

Can't bear the thought of being eaten by midges or mosquitoes or anything else itchy making.

Fairy, I already have one of those elegant midge hoods.  I just didn't expect to need it this early in the year...  image

    What's a midge eater, LilyP?

Daughter and SIL were thinking of taking Jonah to the west of Scotland but I'm a bit concerned about the midge situation, is there a particular season for them or are they troublesome all through the summer?
