On a plus note, the blue tits have been in and out of the nest box with gay abandon.

Not seen mine for a little while either, but hopefully they're getting 'jiggy'...image

I spent a few minutes watching blue and great tits this morning on the feeders. Great tit got shirty with the little blue tit and he flew off into the blackthorn blossom where he found something tasty to eat instead. Simple pleasures.

Certainly better than listening to the news....now it's Stockholm image

Amberspy - are you still feeling grim?  If it goes on after the weekend I think you should make a GP appointment ... in the meantime, here's something to make you smile ...

    Hello everyone,

I love this time of year. We've had unbroken sunshine for three days now and more to come. (sorry those who haven't) and it's amazing how much more energetic it makes you feel.

I suppose it's like teaching you Forkers  how to suck eggs but have you ever grown pea shoots. I bought some cheap dried peas from the SM soaked them for a few hours sowed them in shallow trays of compost yesterday and they have tiny roots already. A really tasty salad ingredient.

    It's been a lovely day.

Planted cyclamen hederifolium this morning - some of them were huge corms - thanks Doveimage - they'll fill a few spaces.

Shifted just over half the compost from the drive helped by OH - much easier when there are 2 of you doing it. He then cleaned the bench and table while I took myself off to a favourite nursery where I bought some epimediums, aconitums, a very pretty violet and 15 small box plants which I am going to use to make 5 very large box balls - can't afford to buy 5 the size I want so have to grow them myself.

Then a trip to the SM to buy fish for dinner and some pork to make Indonesian pork tomorrow.

Grim news coming out of Stockholm this afternoonimage

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

all day in the garden for me too.

Moving compost, digging in compost, moving plants. More of the same tomorrow.

Our lovely tenants moved into the flat this evening. I hope they're happy there.

Sorry you're still feeling a bit rough amberspy. Hope you're well enough to get away. Think the weather's to be a bit hit and miss further north, generally. I'll arrange a bit of sun and not too much wind and rain for you  image

I'm avoiding the news now T'bird. It's been sad enough just on the radio, so not wanting to watch it on tv.

Glad you've had a good day Dove. Love the cartoon image

Nice to see you Ppam, even if you're having sun  image  image

Never grown pea shoots, but it sounds so simple it would be worth doing. I've just sown some spinach - daughter is making smoothies with them at the moment. It's something I've not had much success with, but I think the two summers I tried, we actually had quite hot weather and it bolted. Third time lucky.

Been busy  after work - grass fed, lots of other stuff fed, mulched and tidied, and a strip of gravel along the side of the extension has had some gritty compost added and some little hardy annuals sown. They were all things that have been kicking about for ages, so hopefully some will germinate.

Had a lovely visit to son and really enjoyed driving through the glorious countryside - so much blossom and green hedgerows. image

I also did the food shop for the weekend so I can spend all tomorrow in the garden.

Hosta ... I'm sure the new tenants will be very happy - it's a great spot and the landlords are really lovely image
