A friend of mine is a Doctor on a geriatric ward and one of her patients sent her this:
"An Angel ? at my bedside
It's just coming up for a year since I had the pleasure of meeting Killy . I was a patient in the RD&E recovering from an operation and feeling very sorry for myself . Confined in a hospital bed , patients are naturally worried and obsessed with their own problems and are completely unaware of the overwhelming pressure the doctors treating them are suffering. Thank you (..........)for publicly sharing these problems and for being there for me and making me laugh when I needed you. There are times in life that you meet somebody special and the joy they bring remains with you for ever."
I love the NHS too, Hosta. Appointment last Tuesday at Halifax hospital for 11.15am. I arrived at 10.50 (coming by public transport so couldn't be more precise about timing), and booked in. Sat in the waiting room 2 mins; saw specialist, got new appointment; caught bus home again at 11am. Plus, the outpatient eye appointment I was waiting for, has come through. For the local health centre, 10mins walk from home.
Who was it who said the long-tailed tits had disappeared from the feeders? I remember smugly commenting that we still had ours. No more. However, while weeding yesterday in the garden (on the other side of the house) I was joined by a pair of LTTs collecting, I presume, tiny insects from my Amelanchier. Perhaps while breeding they exchange junk food for the more nutritious natural stuff? It's been warm enough here to bring out lots of insects.
Hope your sandwiches are appreciated, Lizzie. And burying your beloved Tigger under the bluebells sounds just right.
Topbird, you beat me to the "rhubarb forcing jar" idea. Could you leave one compost bin empty until the end of the rhubarb season, Clari, and transplant the rhubarb next winter?
Hope you have a lovely day out, Dove.
Morning Joyce, Fairy and Punkdoc - afternoon Pat - and greetings to anyone I've missed.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
I've only just surfaced to a bright sunny day after a really bad night so lots of dozing and reading this morning. Just picking up the Trump/Syria news. Worrying on many fronts. Thank goodness we have gardens to distract us.
Dance class was good last night but exhausting as we did 30 mins of English waltz followed by 30 more in which we learned every move the others have learned in 6 years of cha-cha. We know the moves but not the sequence and it's one of the most physical dances so a good work out but clearly not tiring enough.
I need to crack on with the hosta bed today to clear the pots away so they don't get run over by the CH oil truck tomorrow.
I hope you all get some good weather for today's projects and the weekend.
Re PC batteries - apparently they last longer if you use them and let them run down and be re-charged rather than leaving them plugged into the leccy all the time.
Internet speeds not too clever here today either Busy.

Agreements signed at estate agents and hubby dropped off at work, Nice crusty loaf from Waitrose so just a quick cuppa and head off into the garden.
Hi all.
If I advertised my greenhouse on freecycle, it would have to say 10 X 8 1 intact pane of glass.

I've taken out her name for the sake of privacy.
Have I ever mentioned I LOVE THE NHS?
Morning Punkdoc. How's things?
Good thanks Hosta, but being a natural pessimist, somewhat worried that we might be in an end of the world scenario.
Need to get out in the garden.
If I say so myself the NHS is great, probably the thing I am proudest of, about our country.

Liri, 'twas I who has "lost" my long tailed tits.
On a plus note, the blue tits have been in and out of the nest box with gay abandon.
Night all. Catch up tomorrow.
night night Pat. Keep warm.
