Been very damp overnight and looking a bit pants at the weekend for walking. Typically - the best weather is Monday when I'm at work
Used to like Creme eggs but not now. Co-op does some nice little bars of choc - just the right size for fairies to eat
Did anyone see a prog last night about Franciscan monks in Bradford? Sounds weird, I know, but it was amazing. The wonderful side of the human race after all the sh**e we've been witnessing recently.
I'll have a quick look round before I go - have a lovely day everyone, especially workers who have the holiday.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Good luck with the greenhouse Wonky I've started the jumper Oh, and your uncle is Very Impressed Indeed with your new job. He knows of the estate ... "Very Smart" is what he said! Coming from him that means something ... he's not easily impressed as you know.
I've just put the sprinkler on the broad beans for 15 mins ... then it's going on the herbaceous perennial beds and then I'll put the soaker hose on the bank for the clematis , honeysuckles and roses. All the fruit bushes will be getting two buckets of water each - three for the pear tree, and several buckets full for the grapevine and the rhubarb. Bro (big potato farmer) says he and the men will be manning the irrigators all over the Easter boliday ... he's never known the ground so dry this early.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Dove is right, I do have news. brief recap, had bad luck in the job market and was in the process of going self employed as a gardener which is lovely but not a stable income through he winter months. This was worrying me as you can imagine! Answered an ad for a gardener full time, and went along to first interview, very interesting work on a family estate of 70 acres, walled gardens, rose gardens, kitchen gardens, citrus gardens, lakes, woodlands, herbaceous boarders, cutting gardens...just my sort of thing! Just been to the second interview and start near the end of the month! just a little bit excited! hold me down...I'm floating!
Clari, you next love! two of the best jobs I've had have been from Gumtree! Often gardening jobs on there!
How's the house renovations going? Floors, walls, roof, electric, plumbing....tick where appropriate!
Morning Joyce we have had no rain since OH plumbed in the waterbutt! I've been watering by watering can as no hose or outside tap! Does anybody have experience of hose adapters that fit kitchen taps? Or I will happily take your rain Joyce! Maybe in the evening though what with the greenhouse project today!
Dove, love the look of that wool! Just my colours! Thank you
Due to car problems, our VIP visitors will be arriving by train later this morning. ( at least I didn't have to sit up until midnight waiting for them. Do I sound cruel? )
Can't do creme eggs either Dove. I suggest we swap for lamb's kidneys...........
Up and on parade - ie dressed presentably and mascara'd - to take Rasta to the hairdresser. Do we want nail varnish again? OK and please tell me the brand as it lasts so much longer than mine. Special for dogs!! Not in shops. Oh well, I shan't have any nails left to paint anyway now gardening is getting serious again.
Liri - yes please from me too for pics of your community project. sounds lovely.
Wonky - no sorry but I need an adapter myself. OH bought a lovely gizmo to rin 3 hoses off our outside tap. Doesn't know they come in two sizes for the attachment and he he got the wrong one. No signs of a suitable adapter anywhere so far. We have no rain either so now i'm hesitating about the water butts on our shopping list.
Hope everyone gets good weather for the Easter gardening weekend and other projects.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Rain! Sweet glorious rain after 4 weeks of no rain at all, and only 12 hours since Argos delivered the hose that will reach round to where all my plants are.
Yes, Wonky, I have experience of a hose adaptor bought because it "fits most kitchen taps". Not mine, of course; water sprayed all up the wall, unless the pressure was reduced to a trickle. I'm sure there are taps they do fit, though. Maybe even yours?? I have a friend who fitted his hose adaptor permanently onto his kitchen mixer tap, using metal hose clips. He's not married... obviously...
Now we've got rid of the dishwasher, there's a cold tap under the sink with a screw connector. I don't know if it's got a check valve in it or not, but it has been used in an emergency as a hose connector - shh, please don't tell!
OH is still feeling sorry for himself, coughing away madly, so I may have to be a ministering angel today. I find that much easier if the weather isn't conducive to gardening.
Photos of the park will appear in due course... probably not today!
Have a great Easter weekend, folks, whatever the weather brings. Don't forget GW is on for an hour tonight!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
