Hello Mrs. Garden, good to see you. Are you here for a bit or was it a "now and then pop in"? Have you been keeping well? Just seen your lovely photos.

Hi FB and BL. Its gonna have to be a now n then pop in Im afraid! But love a few minutes every few weeks, Im sure itll get more regular as the season unfolds - and as my knowledge needs topping up more to the point!

White leggins - ooops! Bet mum was delighted! I planted sunflowers (ok sowed) with son on mothers day but not too hopeful so saved a few to grow in pots and then miraculously transplant where they should be - cheating but effective.

I think I'm the other way round, more time to post in the winter.

I grew Sunflowers for the first time last year and ther were quite a few obstacles and learning points! None of the Sunflowers planted directly into the border survived, and neither did the plants put there at one foot tall (one word: slugs!). The three survivors were all in pots and only moved to the final position just prior to the flowers opening. The other big lesson is to support much more robustly than you may think - I nearly lost the 8 footers at this point due to them being top-heavy so even a modest breeze was a challenge!

    Going back for more though...

I go in phases with posting.  Some days I have the laptop open and keep popping in; others I'm happily stuck in the garden all day, or out doing something else.  Tomorrow I'll be in York all day, singing in the once-a-month choir rehearsal.

Just had a happy half hour chatting to our son about his garden.  He's a new convert...  image

Can't sleep for garden planning! Front garden might get ripped out and started again. New patch under the laurel and buddleia might get host as and ferns. Feather bed needs a revamp, no I think I did that last year! And how do you tidy up the leaves around a red hot poker, or do you leave them? Heads spinning. Night all.

Our clocks went back last night so now I'm 9 hours ahead instead of 10. It takes a while for me to mentally work out "when" you all are. image Very cool this morning and no sun, but I'm doing the washing anyway. It has to be done, but there might be clothes hanging around inside by tonight.image

There is major flooding in Northern NSW and southern Qld as a result of the rain from the cyclone. A few deaths notified, but hopefully no more as time goes on. We've had no rain, so I should be glad at this time. The emergency services and army are fully occupied in helping people. I'm glad we're well up high from our river - I think it's 50m above it.

Catch up with what you've all written later. image
