Topbird, thank you! I wasn't worried for myself, only in case others were distressed - as I said earlier, I'm a bit over-sensitive at the moment because of having to try to shield OH against things he can't cope with hearing. We both have strong political views too, but his aren't exactly the same as mine!
And yes, both you and Obelixx are always, in my experience, thoughtful, courteous and respectful in discussing things on here.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Hello folks We're home We stopped off and saw The Nuts on our way home, managing to time our visit for the very moment that Mr Nut was making coffee We had a walk around the lovely garden in the spring sunshine, plants a good ten days ahead of here, sat and nattered, watched and listened to birds (including a blackcap) And swapped some plants
feeling extraordinarily tired for some reason so will put my feet up and see what everyone's been up to.
Have a peaceful evening folks.

Lots of wonderful people in the world, just look in the mirror to see one, all of you!
Joyce, yes - I have an early flowering Soldanella which looks pink in photos... but is more like pale mauve really. Probably S.alpina though possibly 'Spring Symphony'. I think you said you have S.villosa, photographed in my rock bank yesterday; much more purple, and more beefy in habit too. A lovely plant in my opinion.
And below is the "pink" one, photographed in March:
Such delicate little things. I was on holiday in Switzerland one June and saw them on the mountains, appearing as snow patches melted.

Hello everyone. Lovely clear warmish day here today. I hope it holds out for our trip to Canberra tomorrow.
I'm glad Cosmos is jumping all over the place. As you say, he won't know what he has missed, at his age.
i don't do politics either, but do whinge about some decisions they make. The latest is that they are planning on charging GST on purchases made on line. I think they getting worried that Amazon is planning a big opening in Australia.
i hope Clari is feeling better.i assume its thevfinger again. Ouch!
I made a mental note to add other comments before I turned to the last page, but it's gone now. Typical. If I try to turn back I'll lose the above.
Oh yes, now I've remembered. Lovely photo of DD and Charlie. You both look SO happy. Such a nice place for you both to be in. Good luck with the plans.
The other thing was talk about visiting Chatsworth. One of Dad's ancestors used to work there. He was the first one on that ancestral line who came to Oz in the mid 1800s. We were under the impression that he was head gardener or yardsman, but we later found out he was the head coachman (or some such) and that when he came to Oz, he worked as the head coachman for the Archbishop in Sydney. I need to dig through the various papers that Hubby has uncovered to be completely accurate, but I think that was what we discovered. I do get confused with all the stuff he uncovers.
I DO remember very clearly that my father told me that he used to be sent as a young boy around the headland and beaches near Ulladulla with sugar bags to collect Cuttlefish shell. I asked what for, and was told that the coach builders in Sydney paid a good price for them because it was the finest sandpaper they could get for their woodwork. Interesting.
