Hi Pat, not sure why you are going to Canberra as I am not one for looking back in the thread. Still, hope you have a great time.
When I was a kid I always assumed that the big cities of Australia were on the west side, perhaps because they could be discovered/ reached first from Europe. It came as a surprise to me how many great Australian cities were further east.
Hello Daisy. In case you missed it, we had to put HRH to sleep on Easter Saturday. I've washed and cleaned all her stuff, so we're going to Canberra to take HRHs bedding, coats, dog food etc. to our daughter. She has a poodle the same size as HRH. Also, the shopping in Cooma leaves a lot to be desired. They're too small to carry a big range, so our trip usually involves a shopping day as well. There is also an art store there where I can be tempted by special goodies.
WA was the first discovered by Europeans, but the west coast is fairly desolate mostly. The east coast is much better. Canberra was developed about halfway between Sydney and Melbourne, I think because they couldnt agree on which of them should be the federal capital When they wanted to make it one nation instead of separate States. That's probably simplifying it, but you'll get the idea.
I think Australia would be interesting to visit if you're from the northern hemisphere. Trouble is, which part? It's huge.
Morning all We escaped the frost My wisteria flower buds survive another day (stressful business this gardening lark ).
Got away from work early-ish yesterday so we had time for a quick 6 mile trot round some bluebell woods on the South Downs. Absolutely beautiful. Never realised just how strong their scent was, or just how blue the native ones could be. By the end of it I'd forgotten I'd even been back to work
Chicky, the bluebell woods sounded lovely. I think we're a bit dry here for that kind of show, although I did visit a garden when I was a teenager around the Bowral area where there was A garden with one. I remember that I was amazed with it. Bowral is bit south of Sydney and described as southern highlands, whereas we are southern alps. Bit of a joke when you think of the altitude there. Still, it was probably named not long after white settlement, and compared with Sydney, it was a bit above sea level.
Daisy, no worries. We are much better than we were on Sunday. Just keep looking for her when the old brain isnt plugged in properly.
Good morning all Quite a sharp frost on the grass here at the front of the house - hope the pear blossom will have escaped it as its in a fairly sheltered corner.
Tennis later this morning, then I'll get our into the garden ... If the clear blue sky and sunshine remain it's going to be a lovely day.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I've had a coffee now but need a second! Flatters it appears has a hair ball and can't meow or complain! He's looking annoyed and eating bits of grass. Think I'll go get some anti hairball treats and see if that works, not off his food and totally as normal, just not vocal!
Have a good trip today Pat, I'm glad you have found a home for all the bits you made lovingly for HRH.
Chilly outside today but bright sunshine with it, I'm sure the will be a countryside stomp with papa womble on the to do list! think I'll take a coat!

Morning all/afties Pat - hope you're ok today and the trip goes well.
LP - have you been able to sleep?
Haven't seen those before Joyce and Liri. Very delicate.
Good that you're making progress Clari. Light at the end of the tunnel - possibly, literally!
Keeping all fingers and toes crossed (when suitable) DD. Light and tunnels for you too I think
Gey dreich today - no rain but just ugly cloud rather then nice ones, if that makes sense.
I'll have a quick look round before I head off. Have a good day everyone.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
