Afternoon all, Back from sunny Cornwall to a grey West Midlands.  Have lost 4 seedlings in the greenhouse but apart from that all is well.  Mind you someone has broken the side mirror of hubby's car, he's not a happy bunny.

Lilly, great news about the family.  I bet you are so relieved.

Hopefully, we'll start digging the pond tomorrow, mind you haven't checked the weather forecast yet.

Good luck with the pond Yvie. I've forgotten lots of the posts on here, but I remember you talking about making one. Hope the weather stays fair for you to get started. A wildlife type one I assume? Make sure you post pix of progress image

Not too warm here - doubt if it reached double figures, and that's without the windchill. Well - it's April I suppose, and at least we've had a lot less rain than usual. image

R***y squirrel has been in the raised bed near the back door - no doubt looking for more little alliums. Grrr  image

Hello.  Lovely news for DD, LP and WW.   Very happy for you all and hope it continues to go well.  DD if you PM me your email address I can let you have all my cake recipes as tested and adored by Belgians who didn't know what a  cake could be.  Use to flabby fatless sponge bases on patisserie confections.

We had an interesting day yesterday and are a lot poorer for it.   We arrived at the Japanese themed Foire at Nantes to discover it was really just an Ideal Home exhibition in disguise with a teeny corner of Japanese stuff with some Bonsai, a pretend garden and some kimonos and sushi on sale.  To get there we wandered through giant hall after giant hall of household and garden gizmos, jacuzzis, water beds, camping stuff (don't think so), kitchens, bedrooms and then I spotted an interesting shelf thingy for basins to go in our new shower room so got OH to stop and look.  He liked.   It came with an interior design architect attached.

We have now paid a deposit on a bespoke, designer shower room.  he may have to settle for a paddling pool rather than a swimming pool later on.

Possum did find 3 books on Japan - culture, language and recipes - and I found a nice wee fan for dancing and we had a delicious, but very late lunch.   Got home shattered.

Been busy with Possum all day while OH plays golf so no gardening.  It's sunny but just a bit breezy.   Some rain would be good but I'm not complaining.   The countryside is looking fabulous with all sorts of fresh green foliage birsting forth and blossom and cowslips and primroses and it smell fabulous.

Possum has just told me Jude Law is to be the new Dumbledore in the next Fabulous Beasts.  What with him and Johnny Depp as Grindlewald I may not be able to cope.  Can't stand either of them.

Dove - pretty pattern but I'd have thought fleeces with pockets would be more practical for WW, especially ones with removal sleeves or no sleeves for transitions.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

    Hello all!

I spent the morning digging in the park - the volunteers are making a wheelchair-friendly path to a seating area, in a "new" glade in the trees.  The "parkies" had to remove a huge diseased beech tree and a load of big rhododendrons (because of phytophthora) - but every cloud has a silver lining;  we've nearly finished the path, and spent a long time preparing the area next to it for a lot of wild flower seeds, which will be sown in the next week or so.  Hopefully it will be well used by the dementia care home opposite.  We'll plant lavenders next to the seating area for extra scent, and there's a great sunny view across the park, so it should be popular.  image

That looks lovely yarn for a jumper, Dove.  But you're right, it'll be too good for working in...  not sure about BM's knitted undies though...  image  ...anyone remember knitted swimsuits??  Or am I showing my age again?

A relative of your r***y squirrel, Fairy, has been hiding conkers in my bark path.  Some of them are happily germinating.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
