You are all so lucky to have sunshine. The weatherman said yesterday we' d had rain every day for 16 days here in Cornwall but the winter must have been dryer than usual as we normally have big lakes over Perran Sands but totally dry this year. I don't know how the frogs and toads will manage.
Hares are quite rare in Cornwall, Dove but when we lived further north our labrador we had at the time was lolloping across a field when a hare saw him and chased after him probably thinking he was a rival but the hare suddenly realised his mistake when he got closer and fled at a rate of knots.
PPam - sadly hares are scarcer than they used to be here, but thankfully they're still around - very many farmers no longer shoot them as they love to see them about. My brother who is a farmer told me that one female hare regularly has her leverets in the meadow in front of his house. Most years she has three - he watches her as she visits the three separate forms (nests) to suckle them at sundown. For two years one of the forms has been in straw in the corner of the horses' field shelter - no one I know of has ever known of a hare making a form and having its young in a building before.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Having finally got our power supply back we then lost it to the leccy men but we do now have functioning lights and shutters in the annex, some power sockets, a connector for the cooker hood which I asked for and a TV socket which I wasn't expecting but was wired in by the last owners who planned to use it as her laundry and ironing room.
Can't paint with off and on lights so I've spent my time tidying and cleaning and had a little play with my new raspberry canes. Roots soaking ready for planting in pots tomorrow as a temporary measure.
TB - have to agree. Take it easy. Do your nails or something or read a good book. Have to admit that on the few occasions I take a bath, it's usually after a long, mucky day in the garden and I have some kind of relaxing bubbles or essential oil, a glass of fizz and a good book or magazine.
Liri - pesky but you may well have inspired someone for later life. In the near future, it will be nice to have a kitchen again and a functioning oven. I shall bake a cake to celebrate.

Know what you mean about nice weather overriding how you feel too. Difficult when things need done- especially at this time of year. Hope you're a bit better tomorrow.
I don't think anyone intentionally ignores anyone else here SGL. It's difficult to remember everything you read. I've intended responding to a couple of things that I've just read now - and I've already forgotten what they were....
I often do the same as Liri and respond to the most recent posts - it would take me ages to read everything here when I've only been at work for the day. It can get to a fair old number of pages! I'm usually considering the dinner and umpteen other things all at the same time too
Obelixx - having no leccy is a pain, so it's good you're switched back on. I suppose we get so used to having it that we take it for granted. You've had such a lot on your plate - you'll need a holiday on LP's island
Lovely to see the hares, Dove. I only see mountain hares, but the issue this winter has been the lack of snow for them in their white coats. There'll be lots of vulnerable ones again just now.
No sun here PPam - we had spring on Sunday and yesterday, but it's back to horrible, dank manky usual stuff today! Been a very dry winter here too. Not used to it.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
When I gardened in Northumberland, I found myself weeding round a cold frame in which a leveret was crouching. I guess they're programmed to stay absolutely still, so that predators overlook them. It was a beautiful little thing.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
There are hares here, no rabbits around my house. It's limestone and the topsoil is very thin, no scope for burrows. But there are rabbits in the valley. One year I hadn't cut anything down in the long border and a female hare moved in. She had 4 babies, so cute, but they started to grow and they ate my campanulas so I had to chase them out, plenty of other space here for hares to live, but my garden isn't one of them!
Must go and dish up the chicken pie.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good to see you back Lily - really hope I wasn't one of those causing you grief .....I normally only have time for one post a day, and often don't mention anyone else (self centred ???).....but that doesn't mean I don't read a lot more than I post. Have missed hearing tales of little poppet.
.......and whoever suggested a herbaceous borders at Kew visit ......fantastic idea, count me in
I know what you mean everyone, i'm sure I've missed people too. I can't remember everything all the time lol.
But there are a couple of people that haven't acknowledged me much these last few months and one that has only acknowledged me once in the whole time I've posted on the forum.

Liri - what a special sight
The mothers only suckle their young once a day, in the evening. If anyone wants to know a bit more about hare family life and where to see them http://www.discoverwildlife.com/british-wildlife/new-series-understand-mammal-behaviour-part-1-hares
