Good morning. We were led to expect winds and rain and thunder and lightening but it's really very calm, trying to be sunny and feeling fresh. We have started a day with active cuddles from two playful kittens and two naughty dogs who snuck upstairs to join in the fun. Exhausting but funny.
Now it's all go as some men have arrived with a truck towing a digger to make holes for fence posts and another van trailing a cement mixer. Another chap is here measuring up for the new worktops and kitchen man will arrive shortly. Lots of barking and bouncing.
Not sure what to do this morning. Feeling a bit unfocussed. I expect the only way to protect against these ram raid attacks is to erect bollards or posts along every pavement or raise every kerb to a height vehicles can't mount - expensive, ugly and not good for the disabled or people with buggies. And then they'll think of another way to attack so the security services have to learn to think creatively to anticipate all that. Nigh on impossible for normal people to contemplate such things..

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Would just like to echo the words of commendation for our wonderful, brave emergency services and members of the public and MP Tobias Ellwood who tried to assist those injured and dying.
The scenes on live television yesterday were quite graphic. Many shocked and frightened faces but otherwise - all I could see were people caring and intent on helping strangers.
One bad person - hundreds of good people.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
OH and I were just saying that this morning Topbird; with absolutely no hesitation men and women calmly went towards what could have been continuing escalating danger to give help and comfort to the injured and frightened; Douglas Ellwood too.
Heroes every one of them.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Dove, I agree about folk going to help. but did you see the woman going over to a man on the ground, stand over him, and take a photo????? Words fail me.
Morning Dove, Topbird, Hosta, Obelixx, Fairy, LilyP and LG (and anyone else I've overlooked...) and afternoon Pat.
It's great we can focus on the unselfish acts yesterday, of people rushing to help without a thought for their own safety. As you said, Topbird - one evil man does something unspeakable, but then you see what the vast majority of people are like - compassionate and brave.
Anyway, back in the mundane, peaceful world I'm lucky enough to live in - keep your voices to a whisper - but the sun is shining... There's a lot of surface water to drain away before serious gardening can be done, but at least there's the promise of Spring.
Yes please, Dove - a cup of tea would be most welcome. I'm trying to ignore the dentist-like sound produced by the man drilling out our old pointing (or what remains of it!) on a bit of exposed wall. The stone is degrading so he'll be replacing the pointing with lime, and hopefully the penetrating damp will decrease in time.
Glad you're all safe. Have a peaceful day

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Morning all.
Poured in the night, woke us up. Very grey at the moment, cold, 3°.
I must type up minutes from a recent meeting.

Hi BL. Sorry if you've got our rain...
