Glad you enjoyed Wisley Chicky, sounds thoroughly restorative! Wishlist ticking is lovely too, you will have to think of something else to put on the wishlist in its place, always good to have something to strive for! image English literature degree is a great idea, I did literature and language as a mature a student a few years ago and loved it, found it fascinating and rewarding.

Went into the garden today with the cats, hazy sunshine, chilly but nice. Moved a salvia hotlips that had grown too big for its spot, also cut backs few straggling dead bits of perennials and dug up a couple of viburnums that are in the wrong place and popped them in homes until they can find new ones.

Chicken roasting, salad made, and homemade garlic bread ready to go in last minute. Hubby sleeping in front of football, bet he'd wake if I put something else on! image

Had to look up your cornus Annie Chicky.  It looks wonderful and so much more vibrant than Midwinter Fire.   I have a cornus controversa on my list for its horizontal layered branching.

Funnily enough I was pondering an OU degree a couple of days ago but OH and I are going to sign up for Spanish at the university for the 3rd age next September andIi expect that will be quite time consuming.  I'm also finding French wines quite boggling so maybe an oenology class is called for.

Still blowing wild outside so we're tucked up with kittens and dogs, just waiting for the chicken to finish roasting.   Only 10 more days and then we can take the kittens out to play which should be great fun.  Has Flatters got over his adventure?

Hosta - you are a glutton for punishment.  Can you say no to overtime or do you secretly like it?

Hope all lurgy sufferers are on the mend and that the SAD sufferers are doing OK.  Soon be spring and longer days and more light.

Good evening everybody , another good day spent at allotment

The east of England seems to have missed the bad weather , had dinner , fire ? lit , waiting for Call the Midwire

Olerlix , I always thought French wines where easy , just drink what you like ? Just avoid the supetmarket plastic bottles , I seem to remember image

Just had a bottle a rather nice bottle of Belguim Beer while watching Ski Sunday , Cheers ?

  • Snap Wonky! Roast chicken here too, but with stuffing, tatties, purple sprouting broccoli and gravy - OH shared cheffing duties and he's washing up as well.

  • GWRS image  think well be getting our share of 'weather' towards the end of next week, from the look of the Countryfile forecast. The weather will be coming from the East, and that always means real bitter winter weather for us. Brrrr!

GWRS - I remember the plastic bottle advice tooimage

Obxx - we have an Annie in the family so could not resist image

((hugs)) for Wonky - fresh air and gardening are good distracters .......will be thinking of you.

First glass of wine here since dry January ended.  We have an 18th birthday here this week, so thought I'd better start practising image  Looking forward to catching up with Monty this evening ...missed it on Friday

  • Evening everyone!

AWOL today singing in the choir in York.  A fun day spent with friends.  image

Your Wisley visit sounds just the ticket, Chicky.  Nothing like natural beauty to raise the spirits... gardeners are supposed to be healthier than others, with reduced stress levels and a lower risk of stroke - or so they say.  That's what I tell OH when he complains at the amount of time I spend in the garden  image

Hope you get walking weather next time you're off work, Fairy.

Glad you've made some more Gateau progress, DD.  Onwards and upwards!  image

Yes, soon be spring.  Hawthorn leaves opening on a hedge in York...  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Dovefromabove, didn't see Countryfile tonight but have just looked at long term  weather forecast for rest of Feb and it could get cold , as you say if it blows from the East it can get very cold , might even get some snow ❄️

Need to get chain saw out this week and cut some more wood up for fire ?

    Just got a G&T , cheers image

Evening folks, image Obelixx, think Flatters has got over it...he's currently laying on the bed with Hubby, Harrie the rescue cat and I, having just eaten roast chicken! image your going to have some escapades once the kittens are let loose outside! imageimage

Enjoy Monty Chicky, I can't believe he was in Ipswich and no one told me! Actually I'm surprised he didn't want to come and visit my garden! imageimage

Wish I'd done roast spuds and trimmings too Dove but it was use what we have instead of throwing it away and I couikdnt be bothered to go to the shops image

Hello Liri, sounds like a nice day image lovely to see signs of spring while out too!

Evening all.  The sleet and rain went off and it dried up a little, so I prepared goulash for dinner and drove out to Uplawmoor, where I lived previously, for a little walk. It's along from the nursery but I didn't take my purse - just in case....image

Joyce was right - as soon as I got nearer the East Ayrshire border, the sky was blue and there was even sunshine! Could see some of the smaller hills west had a good covering of snow.

Had a quick shift round for an hour and a half, and there was a nice field of big black sheep with lots of lambs. Very unusual looking, so I've asked Mr Google what they were. They appear to be Balwen  Welsh Mountain sheep - or at least that's what they looked like. Lovely  image

That's very brave chicky - good luck with it. Sounds like you got some good buys too. I'll have to look that Cornus up. I often think one would be nice here for extra winter colour  image

Hope the stormy weather doesn't cause any more damage BL, or for you Obelixx. I want rid of the manky fog and blizzardy stuff for next weekend - I need a decent hill to walk! We've been a bit spoiled for weather this winter, at low level and at height. I'm taking it badly that it's returned to the norm image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
