Got stir crazy as the rain would not let up so went up the garden shielding my camera and drunk in what is showing promise of delights for February, including the snowdrops and cyclamen coum, bergenia flowers aplenty, catkins and primroses, chaenomeles flowers, lovely scent from my sweet box on the terrace.  I came home quite damp but happy clutching a bunch of my lucky white heather.

Lovely photos again Marion. So much in flower already! I have a winter box and a pot of polyanthus but my bergenia is nowhere near flowering!

I went GC today and bought  shallot sets and a bag of seed compost so I'm ready to start sowing next weekendimage

My friend has sent me pics of his white collection at the moment - crocus "Miss Vain" in flower already and "Aphrodite" amaryllis.  He is pleased with his lemon scented pelargonium still growing through the cold weather and has brought in some purple hellebore flowers to float and be seen!   It is 8 degrees already in Bristol but very damp again.  I may be gardening in my raincoat today.

Marion, that crocus has such 'purity'. beautiful.  The pelargonium is amazing for this time of year.

A frosty, sunny morning up here.

Really wet and still raining and so dark I have the lights on.  It is very mild however - 9 degrees already and set to reach 12 so I may be seen gardening in my raincoat in the rain today as such gloom is sure to make me fed up with being indoors very shortly.  I may shovel up lots of wet leaves into bin bags to make myself some more leaf mould as It will not be so cold on the hands today and I will not need to water them to start decomposition.  If you just think about it the weather can point you in the right direction as to which job to prioritise when you have as many as I have.

Marion, I admire your positive attitude to wet leaves.  I find a bag of wet leaves too heavy to move so gather them dry. I have a few hours help in the garden this morning so hopefully this is the final clear up ready for spring.

That's a lovely thought, Joyce.  And your "can do" attitude is a useful kick up the proverbial, Marion... I'm a bit too inclined to look outside and assume I'll be better off indoors when the weather's like this.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
