Morning all. Just realised I've been reading without posting for a few days (not intentionally - y'know when you answer emails in your head and don't realise you haven't actually written anything down? Or is that just me?).

Frosty here again - seems we've swapped weather, Fairygirl. Though it is sunny and we're due to reach the dizzy heights of 4 or 5 degrees here today and tomorrow with a drop to below freezing overnight.

Hope Hosta's journey went / is going okay, and that Devon is pretty enough upon his return to mitigate against any loss of holiday... maybe not.

Sleepy today after watching 7.5k primary school children singing at the O2 last night. It was lovely, but tiring, and my 10 year old is stil asleep. I need to start work now - see you later.

I think our top temperature today was 17c . Crazy after 38c yesterday, . Rain definitely predicted tomorrow. imageimageimage

-6C this morning.  No pics of sunrise as there are no clouds to make it interesting.  Just a lovely increasing glow as the sun slipped above the horizon.

I have been to the vet with Rasta who has a teeny ear infection.  Such a drama queen when he was plucking excess hairs so he could see.   She's put on a kilo cos of stealing kitten food but I've stopped her access to that and it will soon disappear with walkies and play.

Happy to report that all 20 of my wee pots of Belgian snowdrops are showing shoots.  None in the rest of the garden but that's not a surprise.  Given the state of the hay meadow that covers most of the plot, I doubt I'd see them anyway.

Glad you're cooler today Pat.  Hope they get that fire under control.

Keep warm and tucked up everyone and watch out for icy pavements.   Don't want any accidents with spring on the way.

Just a thought ... isn't it about time we thought about arranging some Snowdrop Walks?

Not sure when though. Just a few brave green noses poking through here - most still fast asleep. Weeks away from flowering in this garden. I think it was mid Feb when we went last year wasn't it?

Manners - morning all.image A sunny, crisp start here - still below freezing. -3C when I woke up.

    Good morning all.

It'll be another fortnight at least before my first snowdrop, which is eagerly awaited.  image

I'd be glad of a sunny, crisp start; nowt but grey warm dampness here.  Gets you down a bit.  But the blackbird is happy, throwing the leaves about to find the bugs concealed below, to his heart's content.

Saw the crowds of holidaymakers leaving The Gambia yesterday on the Beeb, but nobody who looked like my idea of Hosta and his OH... hope they're safely home soon.

Thursday is flea market day, so I'm off to have a mooch around.  image

Don't remember one last year Topbird - maybe I missed it 'cos Ma was poorly?

Any ideas about where to go this time?

I've been scrutinising the passengers from The Gambia Liri, but I've not seen our two ...

Just bought these at the flea market, 50p each, from a huge collection of brass objects - hinges, escutcheons, turn buttons, keys, joiners etc - owned by a retired cabinet maker.

No idea what I'll do with them, but they were too pretty to leave.  They'll come in handy for some craft project or other, no doubt.  But should I go back and buy more?  Do I need tiny brass hinges for anything??

Tiny brass hinges ... You'll need them for repairing broken Georgian tea caddies and jewellery boxes picked up in job lots at local auctions for peanuts cos they're broken. A little beeswax rubbed over and a little treasure inside - lovely Christmas pressies ... If you can bear to part with them image

You, Nut, Panda and I went to Oxborough Hall on 18th February last year. Link below if you need the photos to remind youimage  You did have rather a lot on your plate at the time so understandable if it's all a bit of a blurimage

It was a nice sunny day - even though there was a snow warning out. Good day - good company, good lunch, lots of snowdrops.

I'd be very happy to go back to Anglesey Abbey. I went a few years ago - and I know you've been with other Forkers - but the winter garden is lovely and it's probably not a bad location if Nut & others want to join us.

But I also like to go to see new places if you've any ideas? We can start a new thread when it gets a bit closer.

LIri - lovely little finds. You could mount them on some white board in an artistic manner (hang them on tiny pins) and hang it on the wall.
