Thanks, Dove. Poor your OH, he has to go to work. My OH has fed the cat and the horses so I can stay in bed a bit longer.

  • I asked OH if he was going to phone in sick, but he said there was no one to phone in to - he suspects the boss's phone will be 'on silent' ... if colleagues are poorly they usually phone OH image  Besides, Ihe doesn't expect they'll be very busy ...................... image

Sorry to hear Mr Dove & BL are poorly. I was struggling all night with a burning throat so I think OH has shared his heavy cold around. I'm still blaming the queen - she should have left her germs in London - we didn't need them up here thanks very much ma'amimage

Still in bedimage & OH has made me a second bucket of tea. image

    Morning all.

Dreech here , but no frost.

Bought myself a thick , quilted jacket yesterday from the charity shop £9.99. Being the generous sort, I told her to keep the change. Ideal for those jobs like tying in or weeding by hand when you're not moving about much. My 30 year old wax jacket has seen better days and the zip no longer works.

No idea what the whole Edd spat is about, but as he suggests, I heartily recommend the " handy ignore button". I've decided to use it a lot more next year. I'm fed up with the nastiness which appears, mercifully, occasionally. I've made a start with a right assortment of loons and bigots.

I hope those who have to travel manage to do so safely and stressfree.

    Devon.

Hosta - Edd took umbrage at my comment "disgusted" at the pic he posted.  Matter closed.

Joyce,s in most matters, I agree with Dove. Attention seeking behaviour is best ignored.

How's the weather up there this morning? I spoke to my daughter yesterday and she said it was very mild in Glasgow.

  • A very nice man has replaced a faulty pressure switch in my washing machine and it is working properly image  there's a load of jeans revolving as we speak.  He looked at the label on my machine and said that it should just be a one-off blip as my machine is one of a batch made in Italy and he rates Italian engineering and manufacture highly (as does my son)  ... apparently the ones made China have more problems.

Now for another coffee ... then a batch of Salad Drawer Soup will be made - think it'll be mainly celery, leek and purple sprouting broccoli with chicken stock and some creme fraiche ... possibly a soupcon of blue cheese ... what do you think? image

I think your food always sounds yummy, except when you mentioned tripe! Blue cheese goes well with broccoli.

  • Yes - I think the cheese has to play a part in this creation image
