Afternoon all. I'm trying to work out why I didn't book today off work instead of last Thursday (which I ended up working on anyway). Fatigue is really kicking in! I just hope it isn't some nasty bug waiting to strike the moment someone offers up the start of the celebrations.
I think I have everything brought / wrapped / boxed ready to travel in the car. His lordship did the last of his shopping yesterday which is remarkably organised for him! So much for his spending this week sorting the house he hasn't been at home all week!
Monday: went to work
Tuesday: went out for long walk with hound and to swap a present
Wednesday: Christmas shopping
Thursday: out with friend
Tomorrow we are both off work and I want to clean the house (so that'll be a good excuse for him not to start drilling and banging away) and actually spend a little bit of time together before we travel to the family.
Still all minor annoyances in the grand scheme of things. At least the only cyclone I need to avoid is the one in the vacuum cleaners technology.
I've not heard anything about the job I applied for. Applications closed for it on the 16th so I was rather hoping they'd at least let you know if you were successful for interviews (i.e. made the first stage) before Christmas.
Right, time to go for a walk around. My office-cupboard type arrangement is rather too cold to be sat still in for too long!
Back from shopping. Have put all the food away in fridge and freezer, veg in the veranda, it's only 4° today. We left home at 11.30am (French time). Clear run into the carpark, but loads of traffic coming out of the carpark, congestion at the roundabout out. The French all have to go to lunch between 12 and 2pm. No queues at the check out. As we were leaving, at 2pm, the French all started arriving, jam on the way into the car park. But maybe that is why they are slimmer than us, main meal midday, not much in the evening.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Like lots of you, today was my food shopping day. Got everything I needed, its all put away, and there were no queues - all in all quite a pleasant experience?????✨
Tonight is present wrapping (chicklet is taking over the kitchen to cook Christmas dinner for her friends, so I can happily hide away with my wrapping paper, sticky tape and bows???) and tomorrow is baking, of the pudding and treats variety. Must get my Kings Choir Carols out
Now sitting down for a cuppa and a slice of panetonne

I'm glad you're going to be warm over Christmas Clari
Hope a good sleep cures the fatigue and that you're not succumbing to a bug of some sort.
Not very christmassy but something amazing I came across this morning.

Another batch of sausage rolls made - most of the first batch disappeared somewhere

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

There's a lot of sausage rolls there... Would you like me to take one or two off your hands (just as a favour you understand)
Gammon simmering gently and slow cooked braised red cabbage with apples in the oven for Saturday night. House smells nice.
Love the giraffe / elephant thing Fidget - some people are very clever aren't they?
Just done the elephant/giraffe thing too ....cool
