Good morning everyone. You're all making me hungry with your tempting goodies. (Even though I've just finished my evening meal). I could squeeze a bit of the sweet stuff in.
It's been hot here today, but managed to get a bit of cleaning done before our son and his cat arrive tomorrow. Christmas Day has a prediction of 32 degrees . I can just see the air con going on before lunch.
Hope you all have a good Christmas weekend. I might not get much time to browse on here.

One is a local group of Christians, encouraged by the Bishop of Périgueux, who have joined up with a Christian Charity, to welcome refugees who have arrived in this area. These are Christians who have been forced to leave their homes in Iraq and have been picked up by charities who have arranged their paperwork and sent them to France.
The other group is a new charity run by 2 English ladies. They collect donations from people of clothes and equipment which they store in a barn. Volunteers go and help sort it all out then it's sent in lorries to Syria or wherever needed. Refugees are now being sent to a town reasonably local to them (they are 40 mins from me) and they are supplying clothes, bedding, household equipment to the families, who have been housed in flats. But a lorry had just left for Syria when a new group of refugees arrived and they were short of clothes, so they sent out a plea for help on their Facebook page.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Thanks Busy. Nothing on google for my immediate area so I'll have to ask the neighbours or the Commune.
It is damp today. Yesterday's light drizzle turned into steady light rain and it's still drizzling a bit now so I hope the ground is soaking it up. It's very quiet with no wind so looks set to stay a while. Good for my garden but not so much for the birds. Yesterday I put up some bird feeders where I can see them from the kitchen and I already have customers.
Big shop for us too this pm - the usual groceries plus some treats. Still not decided what to have for Xmas brunch. We have dinner in the evening.
Safe journeys to all travelling to friends and family. Hope the shopping isn't too horrendous for everyone. Must say working in shops with all that Xmas musak day in day out would drive me bonkers.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Been and done the final shop. If I ain't got it - you can't have it...
Drove into town just before 9 - roads were really, really quiet. Drove straight into SM car park (it's in the centre of town so there's usually a horrendous queue at this time of year). Got everything I needed with appropriate use by dates and was home by 10 - reeesult. They were queuing round the block for the car park as I came out so obviously timed it just right. Sometimes stuff works out ok.
House is clean and ready and OH is off to work for 2 days this afternoon - so a nice couple of easy days coming up just pottering and prepping food. All is zen calm.. Maybe it is before the storm
Hope all those with travel plans get where they need to be safely and easily. Lovely sunny day here but thoughts with our Scottish friends - hope you're all ok.
PS - Happy b'day to Master Dove
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
T'bird - Getting to the shops early is the key this week.
Pat - email from Darwin friend....they had quite a large tremor yesterday which, she said, was very frightening. You could do with their non-stop rain.
Joyce, tremors weren't unheard of when we were there. They do give you a fright. All the ornaments shake off the dressing table etc. we were advised to get into a small space, such as toilet room or bathroom because it was supposed to be stronger, but since nearly all our houses were on stilts, they usually got a good wobble up. I'm glad she's ok. Apparently the low heading for Darwin didn't develop into a cyclone, although there is one off Broome which has been named Yvette developing which is predicted to hit on Christmas Day. Rather them than me. I don't miss living in the tropics at all.

A safe journey to anyone travelling over the next few days.

Pat - her house has a cyclone shelter. Tropics are too hot and humid for me.
