Yeah - I loved the angels Chicky. Quite liked Fortnum's windows too. Must be feeling a bit Christmassy after all... image

    Hello everyone,

thank you all so much for your kind wishes, much appreciated. My daughter can't believe so many people she has never heard of send such kind messages. I must admit today has probably been one of the happiest we have had this year.  The new babe and mum are doing really well and we had long FaceTime this morning with "virtual" cuddles? The good news was topped by hearing son in laws medication has arrived at customs and just waiting for Russian authorities to psss it?

    Happy Birthday to all celebrating.

Wonky take it slowly it's easy to forget how poorly you were but you dont want to overdo it

to everyone else forgive me for not reading back, I am so tired

    will check in tomorrow

I make a cake sort of using delias creole christmas cake recipe.   I soak loads of dried fruit and nuts in rum, then I make a basic cake mix, equal weights of eggs, flour, butter, brown sugar.  Then I mix the two together and bake. If you substituted ground almonds instead of flour would that work? or use a flourless cake recipe for the cake bit. My cake is three quarters fruit and nuts and a quarter cake.

You can use what you like. I use glace  cherries, sultanas, dates, apricots, glace ginger, almond, pecans and walnuts.I just tip them in, not weigh them.  I have to make the cake. hubby is allergic to brazils. It gets a bit dodgy this time of year. Epi pens on standby.

  • We're back; we've had a lovely day - the sea was flat calm, not a ripple. There was a mist that hid the horizon and the quality of light was beautiful.

We had drinks in the theatre bar on the pier and watched the little groups of turnstones running about busily - just love their bright orange legs. Then we went to Galton Blakiston's No 1 for lunch. OH had tempura whitebait with wasabi mayo and I had cockle popcorn. Then he had cod in batter and minted mushy peas, i had battered hake and we shared a portion of very light and fluffy chip shop style chips.

After that a lazy walk along the prom, a couple of pints in the Kings Head, and a visit to the proper sweet shop for a big wedge of cherry and almond nougat, a box of rose Turkish Delight and a block of creamy fudge to keep us sweet over Christmas.

I've spoken to Wonky ... they've all been working inside today, rubbing down and treating garden furniture, so not as strenuous as last week's work, so she's been able to cope ok.  Apparently while she was poorly her colleagues were cutting back some berried variegated holly, so saved a big bag full for her. image

So you went to Cromer image, glad you had a lovely day.

Lesley, you weren't alone wondering about a Bengal hedgehog! image

    Take care of yourself, Wonky.

Those lights in Regent Street are quite something, must look very impressive in real life.

I've been wrapping Christmas presents for the family this afternoon, not finished yet. Expecting 4 children & spouses and 9 GCs for the w/e.

The shooting of the Russian ambassador in Turkey is not going to go down well with Putin either.

The hedgehog has gone walkabout. I hope he finds his proper hibernating hole. Its going to get cold this weekend.
