Fairy, I've just discovered an artist called Morten Solberg who paints very loose landscapes and then inserts an animal in detail. Rather beautiful. I googled it and really enjoyed looking at some of his work. It reminded me of your bird among the rocks.image

Lovely pix steephill - yes, the Arrochar hills are still looking grand image

I like that graveyard pic with the bluebells.  Looks lovely for a walk too.  The wild orchids will be out here soon - I always like seeing those on the hills.

What does that fruit (Geebung) taste like Pat?  That orchid must be pretty sturdy to cope with that habitat. Nature's pretty astonishing when you think about it!

It was unexpected - that ptarmigan. I saw one wheeling around later on - presumably the same one. No sign of another one. Usually you'd see a few together. He was clearly a youngster, and just toddled aound, hunkering down till I'd gone. The camouflage is incredible. I remember being on the summit ridge to Bidean nam Bian's summit, and seeing some movement out the corner of my eye. Couple of them there. You'd never have seen them if they hadn't moved.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Fairy, the  Geebung tastes a bit like all native food - rather mild, but I grew up with the taste so still like it - just like the Lily Pilly taste. Sort of chewy and mucilagenous at the same time. I'll try to post a photo when the fruit is on and ready to eat.

I'm so glad you're posting on the GW site, Pat.  I'm learning all sorts of things about Australian vegetation, wildlife and scenery I'd never have discovered otherwise.  image

    Never too old to learn...

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Liri, I'll say the same to all of you who post photos, especially Fairy who ventures into those lovely hills. The garden photos from everyone else are amazingly green and lush. I never get that result here.

I'm slightly more discerning about the weather now - too many days in mist, horizontal wet and clag, seeing nowt!

At least there won't be much snow lying this year   image
