I was on Albannaich (Glen Etive) in June last year  and it was snowing for a little while near the summit. The schlepp up the glen however, was roasting. I had a little paddle on the way back down though. Just the ticket   image

imageimageimageWe stayed with friends in Malvern last week and we went to the Malvern Spring Festival. We also went for a walk in the Malvern Hills. Wonderful views.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Lovely BL. The one and only time I've been to Malvern was a ( horses and ponies) sale. It was tedious beyond belief - apart from the location. Three Counties showground with the hills in the background  image

Forecast for the hills is a bit iffy this weekend - to say the least, so I went up to Arrochar and did The brack after work. I was there not long ago, but the cloud hadn't lifted so I missed the best of the summit views. No such problem yesterday.

Bluebells were a delight on the way, along with the broom coming into bloom.

Even though I didn't set out till after half four, it was roasting, and it's a steep little hill till you get to the lovely lochan at 2,000 feet. The view south from it, with neighbouring hill Cnoc Choinnich (left) in the background

    image

and from the other side, looking north - with, left to right, The Cobbler, the flat summit of  Beinn Narnain, and it's neighbouring top A Chrois beyond

    image

The 'sentinels' of the lochan - those large rocks and boulders at the lochan edges, from the other side

    image

Summit views - much clearer this time - Arrochar hills. Left to right - Beinn Luibhean, Beinn Ime, The Cobbler and Beinn Narnain

    image

Looking further east To Ben Lomond, with Arrochar and Loch Long in the foreground

    image

The butterflies. I spent half an hour there, watching the Red Admiral get a hard time from one of the Painted Ladies - constantly being chased. Fascinating behaviour!

Broader view from the summit - you can still see the sheep

Lovely walk, lovely weather, lovely wildlife. Not too shabby for an early evening jaunt  image

A good early evening walk Fairy and worth it for the views. Is there a glimpse of Loch Lomond over behind Arrochar?

Yes Joyce - you get a good view right across from there if it's clear.

I took over a hundred photos.... image

I'm not surprised, Fairy.  It looks gorgeous!  image
