This is Joigny, in France, near where my son lives. I took the photo when I went to see their new baby the end of May. Posting it because I like it. I like boats in photos and I like the way the town rises up the other side of the river.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
A lovely picture Busy, I love the reflections on the water and the town is similar to our town - rising up above the water (in our case sea), with a tall church on the top. It looks so serene in the sunshine.
Here are some photos of Finland for anyone interested.
We've been many times and really love the country. It's clean, well organised and beautiful, and the Finns are great; in the towns everyone under about 50 speaks very good English, and elsewhere it's usually possible to find someone who understands a bit, at least. They are polite, helpful and funny, too, in our experience.
Tampere (where we started for a choral music festival) is Finland's second city, known affectionately by Finns as "Manci" (Manchester). Not a huge resemblance...
Tampere hall is set in a gorgeous park, and is about to host the new Moomin museum:
We moved quite a long way east for the following week, to the Savo area where there's rather more water than land. This area is low, but definitely not flat. Quite sparsely populated, lots of woods (pine and birch mainly), moose, bears, beavers, otters, birds, flowers....
...this was our cottage in the woods by a lake, a few miles from a village.
Just bliss.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I love the way the "eyes" of the flowers are different colours, Iamweedy.
Thats what i thought when I saw them .
'You must have some bread with it me duck!'
Thanks Iamweedy, certainly one to look out for at the GC or plant sale.
Really lovely Busy. Thanks. (Better than dirty knees
)
