the lacy bit is like an eyelid. I will see if I can find a close up tomorrow. All the colours are real, a flash has been used, but other than that they have not been manipulated.
Well we went through the jungle to access a beach that had nesting turtles. There was a wooden set of steps to go down, and the chick was in a nest level with the top step. It was remote and not very often visited. You needed a four wheel drive followed by a mile walk in jungle. We may have been the first people it had seen. It was a big chick, about a foot tall.
Eye eye - what's going on here then? What fantastic photos of wonderful sea life - the colours are so good, the pictures are so clear. You have certainly got some lovely pictures to look back on - what a great experience for you Fidgetbones.

Fidget...I don't think that bird approved of you!
Some of the underwater species are beyond imagining in form. Spectacular colouring.
What are the white plants/organisms with a "sea urchin" top/head?

Top to bottom
Harlequin shrimp with blue seastar
Sea cucumber holothurian , this "union jack" sort I have only seen at Ningaloo .
Crocodile fish. Hubby is fascinated by the lacy covering on the eyes.
Dragon Moray. Fiercer looking than they are. Really hard to find, they hide in coral heads.
Fire goby
Anemone fish in a bubble anemone.
porcupine fish
Christmas Island Pygmy angel fish (also found on cocos island)
Flashing file clam. the blue line flashes as its heart beats.
Booby chick on a nest by a remote beach.
Fidget. Thanks
These are both from Mauritius.
