Ooh - I've missed all the pix here. Love the ferns from chicky and Pat - so different. It's a plant species I'm appreciating a lot more than I used to. So versatile. Even the dodgy old bracken on the hills looks beautiful when it's unfurling in spring.
I managed a walk this weekend so here's a few pix. Ben Vrackie, in Pitlochry, is a landmark for the area, and is 'managed', with a good path to prevent erosion from all the feet. It's very straightforward, apart from in winter conditions, and ideal for a quick shuftie. The weather has been pretty rubbish of late, so it was good to get the legs stretched.
There for six o' clock, and off I went. Plenty of wildlife in this area, and I managed a little pic of this - warbler I think? Had a job keeping the camera steady as it was pretty gusty, even at this height.
The view back over Pitlochry is nice. Blue skies in that direction!
There are lots of memorial benches en route, and I particularly liked the plate on this one. It made me smile, but also brought a little tear. She pretty much has the view in the previous pic
You quickly reach the lochan with it's manmade dam for crossing to reach the cleft up the hillside to the summit...
...and although it's steep, it doesn't take long to get there up the good path. The hill provides some good protection from the wind, but I needed to lean against the viewpoint marker for taking this photo! The Glen Lyon and Lawers hills are over there in the distance - somewhere in the clouds
Got a good view across to the three Munros which form 'Beinn a Ghlo' which are further along the A9 at Blair Atholl. Met two ladies at the summit who had been a good bit ahead of me on the way up to the lochan, and we had a chat about them, as they were keen to know which hills were which. They'd enjoyed their day as the weather had prevented them doing the hill previously.
Far too chilly to hang around, so I put my gloves on (should have done that a lot earlier ) and went over to the other two cairns to the east before heading down. View back to the summit (on the left) with the middle cairn on the right.
Back to the lochan and the sky was still heavy, but the clouds were high enough to prevent any rain which was a real bonus
A last look back to the hill
Back to the car for 9.40 and home for half eleven.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Glad you enjoyed them Liri. It's light till about 10/10.30, so plenty of time to get a wee hill in on an afternoon
Hi scroggin - what a pity the weather has been so lousy. I heard them saying today that it's been the wettest June for a long time up here. That's our penalty for getting the dry spring! The ol' Buachaille was a bit invisible today in the cloud when I looked at the webcam pix
Did you get any hills done at all?

Fabulous sky colour, Pat! I love seeing how different your vegetation is from ours.
Thanks Liri. I'll put some of them on the jigsaw site after dinner
(roast pork belly)
Yum.

Yeah. I'm now really full up and reluctant to move, but I did manage a few puzzles.
Great! I'll have a look later on. Thanks Pat!

Lovely to have so much light in the evening for your walk, Fairy.
Those panoramas are gorgeous!
Great to see your photos again - thank you.
