The Auerbach Head of Gerda Boehm is OH's birthday pressie - he's a huge Auerbach fan but keep it it's a surprise.
Also I've treated myself to Lanyon's Inshore Fishing and the Leach pot - I've always loved Peter Lanyon's work ever since I first saw it when I was in my teens He's been a bit of an influence on my own work. I've also got the William Scott and the Victor Passmore - couldn't resist them
So, your diamond and sapphire tiara might be a bit on the small size - or you could have the Turnbull bronze for the garden ...
I might be wrong, but don't the gas bottle ovens act in a different way from the 'old style-ee' gas ovens?
Naughty Hosta....
doc - that's a very tricky situation re the neighbour's son. My first thought when I read it was, is that a wind up by the neighbours? Maybe I'm too suspicious. It's put you in a very difficult position though. Will his parents be round to thank you or will they react in a less grateful way? Where were they anyway. They're lucky to have you there, and lucky that you didn't just shut the door in his face - perhaps they might realise that....
obelixx - you can use a hand blender for paint...I speak from experience...
Well the freezing cold morning ( minus four when I fed the dicky birds) has given way to a bit of wind (ooh err pardon me ) as we're apparently having normal service tonight with high winds and rain etc. Ho hum.
Sad about Mr Cohen. I wasn't a fan, but admired his talent enormously. I got very teary when they talked about the death of Marianne a while back, and his message to her, and her reaction. They played it again on the radio today and I got teary again. Very moving. I love that we've seen a rise in the singer/songwriter again in the new century. Different times, different sounds and subjects but it's a great gift to be a poet and put it to music. Long live the lot of 'em.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Clarington, if I ever win the lottery, I would sponsor you to do that, along with CPR lessons in schools in term time. It sounds like a brilliant idea to me.
Made a start on clearing the leaves which has made a big difference but still lots of stuff in the wrong place. OH has promised to help tomorrow - I don't mind raking leaves and moving plant supports but I think a stack of paving slabs and a small pile of bricks needs a bit more muscle power.
Interesting article on using gas ovens Dove. We have a small gas cooker in the caravan and I've nearly given up doing roast veg because they just steam and don't crisp up.
Clari - I'd love to run a cookery club like that as well. Mine would be aimed more at adults who need a helping hand and never had the benefit of cookery lessons.
Doc - I'll keep fingers crossed that events with NDN's son might result in them coming round to say thank you for taking such good care of him and preventing possibly serious illness or worse. I'll keep them crossed but I would have expected them round first thing.... Still it might yet prove to be the first small step towards better relations.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Clari, it certainly makes you wonder just who these folk are who have £7m to spend on a single piece of art.
Guilty m'lud

Meant to say - Dove - lovely pic of your parents. I found myself looking at the hankie in your Dad's hand though. Lest we forget...
