Such a lovely day here after a stormy, windy night, so had time to weed, prune and sow seeds. Also planted up my new purchases, Saxifrage 4 for £10, and 6 smaller ones for £7. All healthy looking plants with plenty of buds.
It's been cold and just a bit wet and windy here but I had to go out and dig up some currant bushes and park them in a tub because some chaps are due to erect a fence across where they were planted.
Then a parcel of plants arrived so I had a fine time potting those up or on as they needed and also planted some flat leaf parsley and basil in a small trough.
Looks like a good haul GD.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Managed an hour in between showers today. Did some 'labour' in preparation for the weekend: re-filled garden bin, washed some pots/trays, and weeded the small bulb and annuals bed.
On Saturday I hope to do some seed trays and summer bulb pots, with my neiece. She has requested we do Sunflowers and carrots (?!) so chosen some nice Chanterey carrots and giant Sunflowers. I have also got a wild-flower meadow mix for her to take home and sew in her own fairy garden plot.
Roll on the weekend... the sun is expected to make an appearance ?⛅️?☀️
It's been a gloriously warm and sunny afternoon here ?
The grass got it's second cut of the year and I spiked the soggy patch. Could've done with some sharp sand for brushing in the holes, but could only find builders sand down the back of the shed ? a trip to the builders yard is in order.
Cuttings taken last year have survived a winter of neglect from me ?
And some bare root perennials from wiko are coming on nicely in the plastic greenhouse. Lilly of the valley, geranium "splish splash" and 3 hostas.
A bit of weeding and pruning here and there, time for a cuppa now ☕
Planted out new clematis Polish spirit, moved three helenium 'Vicky', lifted the alliums that I'd left in sunken pots over the winter and planted them all out.
Also, penstemon Raven turned up so they'll be getting planted out soon too ?.
I always forget about this thread - not that I'v done any gardening after work. I looked at some new species tulips which were blooming in the watery sun. Does that count?
They look smashing Kitty - very impressed. Neglect is usually the best method - that's my excuse anyway. My cuttings are very haphazard because I stick them in corners all over the place, and then forget about them. Always finding stuff and wondering what it is until there's some foliage. Hopeless old tart....
Now that I've organised a new cold frame, things may improve...
Would like to get the back grass cut, but we've had frosts for a few days and the sun doesn't get to it enough to dry it out properly. It's to be dry for a few days so I might manage that later one afternoon. Front is more moss than grass so I might get some treatment on it while I'm off work next week too.
You've been busy Andy - Penstemons are a bit hit and miss up here, although some of those dark ones would work well for me. Perhaps I could be tempted at some point.
Ooh - a fairy garden AuntyRach...I have one of those...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
You need the narrow leaved forms FG cos they're hardier. I took cuttings of roses and bunged them in clay pots before we left and a surprising number have survived and produced leaves. Unfortunately the indelible pen I used to mark the variety on each pot has washed off.
I set out to rescue a wheelbarrow load of daffs from a pile dug up by mini-digger while I could still access them and started planting them out, only to find their intended home is suddenly full of celandine, lords and ladies and sticky bud so only got one big clump in before giving in because the wind was so cold.

Your young plants look good kitty? Bitterly cold east wind here, dry and sunny but just too cold to get outvand cut the grass!
Andy, penstemon raven, is that a black one? Sounds exotic, i'm a bit strange, i like dark colours, choc cosmos, karma choc dahlia....?
