It's been a busy weekend. Planted potatoes. Did a bit of weeding and mulching. Finished clearing a section and put in a couple of shrubs, foxgloves, crazy daisies and ox-eye daisies. Cut the grass. Checked, watered, re-potted lots in the greenhouse. Sowed tomato, cucumber, cosmos and sunflower seeds. I'm sure there must be some bits I've forgotten as I feel shattered. Back to work for a rest tomorrow image

We've both been busy out there - OH provided muscle as Under Gardener - the tree roots were dug out of the herb bed (again) and the big pots of mint have been dug out, the mint 'rejuvenated' and replanted in the pots, and the pots have been sunk into the ground again and the rest of the big herb bed has been dug over and prepared for replacement sage, rosemary, French tarragon and other herbs.

Some other 'tidying up' and hoeing/weeding jobs have been done and it's all looking a bit more like a garden.  I'll have to get the lawnmower out very soon ..........

Planted a few more seeds. Giving them a go on the landing window ledge rather than the greenhouse to see if they germinate better there.

It has rained overnight so a bit wet out there at the moment.

Daffs are all out and the tulips are waiting to burst.

Growing onions from seed which I'm excited about. Last time I tried they didnt come to anything.

Hyacinths look wonderful. I plant out indoor bulbs rather than throw them and they come every year and look amazing.

  • Weather wise, not so nice, strong wind and no sunshine, so spent an hour deadheading daffs, sowed a few carrot seeds in module and some radish - both in cold greenhouse - a first time trial for me. I was going to sow flower seeds outside, but the weather has deterred me for another few days.

    Good day at allotment yesterday

Unfortunately raining and it is in for the day , so no gardening today image

  • No outdoor gardening today but indoors just been potting Pieris Havila and Chaenomeles Yukigatan into larger pots and then they have gone outside to get watered by all the rain we are having right now

Not a nice day at all, waiting for the rain to stop so I can pop out to do a bit of pruning. Yesterday was however, rather productive. I made old recycling bins from work into pots and drilled drainage holes, as they match the blue theme on the decking, pruned out some privet that was withdrawing light from the cherry tree's crown, planted some anemone blanda in the main border under the window & dug sedum autumn joy in to the dry walls.

Beautiful day in Leeds but only managed to do a quick circuit around the garden removing all the sycamore seedlings ?.

At least my briza media seedlings are all emerging ?.

Andy, hundreds of sycamore seedlings here if you get bored image I'm getting sick of pulling them up and, of course, will have missed plenty of them. the mower can deal with the ones in the grass.
