Prepared a few hanging baskets - couple Heucherella Yellowstone falls and another vinca illumination / Erica carnea 'winter beauty' / ajuga reptans 'black scallop'. No idea how they'll look..
Planted out a couple of philadelphus manteau d'hermine although both very pot bound ?, moved a knifophia rooperi to make space for a skimmia and planted out an anemone hadspen abundance.
Spent half of yesterday and all of today so far ripping out everything in the front half of my front garden, which is one large raised bed. I thought I'd done the hard bit in removing a 20 year old yucca which I grew from seed but has gone past its best. The 'heart' was huge but discovered it sliced up rather easily with a sharp spade and later an axe for feeding into the shredder (the leaves are a different kettle of fish though and seem designed to be the perfect shredder-jammer-upper!)
However, the yucca wasn't the worst problem. Couch grass has sneakily infested the whole area and the roots have been an absolute bu**er to remove. That also means removing and isolating the few plants I want to keep (a couple of hardy geraniums including Rozanne and a rather nice Japanese quince) in pots for a few months to ensure no couch grass came in entwined around their roots. Back out for another shift after finishing this cuppa!
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
More of the above from me - been anti-couching like Bob and saving £ like Verdun
Unweeded the edges of two beds I'm tinkering with and created space for some plants I want and meddled with the shade border which has looked a bit poo this year. Added some eve prim young plants, still need to move in an aster and vernonia later in the year.
Ordered more bulbs, next year's seeds and some roses in various sales, offers and promotions - very satisfying
Collected some tagetes seeds as need around 1 million for next year. Nowt much else to do at the mo - ground is too hard...might make a sandwich
Cleared out top greenhouse, (sort of!!) picked last cucumber, weather says 8d tonight, we have lots of plants that wont torrerate that low, so greenhouse, at the ready, planted up 3 large pots of daffs, crocus, frittilaria, underplanted with Allium Mt Everest, Oh, went to nursery, bought "pink" planted that plus pink aster, and bought more compost

Verdun have you swallowed the "Gardeners Dictionary"?

Wish I had more time, so much to do!

If the hailstones and rain go off, I might get something done. Not looking too promising though
I'd like to move some plants, and get some more bulbs in, but the ground is really soggy. No chance of the grass drying off for cutting either.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Planted another hundred or so bulbs, hopefully get time tomorrow for another batch.
Maybe too late but took more penstemon cuttings (and covered them this time ?).
