  • We have been down a big hole today moving stones and rubble and filling an already half filled skip with them.  Kept us warm - not that it is cold here. Picked some more chillis and peppers, picked up fallen apples and generally kept moving.

Looks like everyone been getting their bulbs planted but for me image I got so many to plant still, I must do some tomorrow.

It hasn't forecast rain tomorrow for a change, had a good covering of snow Friday morning - thunder / lighting two nights on the trot, then heavy rain back to snow / hailstone image no wonder I haven't planted majority of my bulbs yet.

Had 60 dwarf daffodil bulb delivered yesterday ( offer on here last week ) some cupani sweet peas and two free packs of seed and delivered for a grand total of £6.65 image

  • Thank you for your advice BobTheGardener regarding fallen leaves on my borders , that was exactley what I wanted to hear , now  I can tell my wife that I am not being lazy by not clearing them , but they are in fact serving a purpose image

  • Whoop! Am now completely bulb freeimage Well, all planted anyway. Planted the last crocus in the lawn mud and a bag of unexciting, grassy, tiny flowered daffs I acquired from somewhere.

Did a bit of work on the awkward little bank. Moved my persicaria Orange field in and a small red one. Never been happy with how the bank looks, last experiment was geraniums...image Next year it is going to be Persicaria Island, going to buy another four that will hopefully be alright in part shade.

Planted some nettle roots I dug up yesterday. The new nettle patch is going to be next to a path to make it more manageable, surrounded by some plant support scaffolding, of course.image

May peruse my plant buying lists as other than buying new plants I now have virtually nothing to do.image

    Wearside, England.
  • Just finished putting away my Dahlia's for the winter , and planted up some little Iris bulbs I found sprouting up in a box that I had obviously forgotten about .Hopefully that will be a little spring bonus container for me !

  • Don't know about anyone else, but I have loads of bulbs poking their little noses up already!

Some potted tete-a-tetes are poking through.

    SW Scotland
  • Mine are in pots too Joyce-Daffs and Iris. I wish I'd planted some Hyacinth for Christmas now!

  • The weather wasn't as bad as expected so planted another 250 bulbs today, mainly species tulips.  Like Terry, I also found some bulbs which had been forgotten about!  Those looked in good nick so am hopeful that they will come up in spring.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • OH washed the windows this morning - after all the storm debris being forced against them last night (pines cones/needles etc). I found my way to the bottom of the big hole to remove yet more stones. Put first plant in pond basket and filled with water an old galvanized metal bath tub to stand it in.
