We had a lovely time with my old forker friend. I first met her at Lily Louise's garden (LL used to post here when she opened her garden to the public) but I hadn't met her OH. He is lovely and got on very well with my OH, despite an age gap. My OH is the older one.
I have an acrylic cardi but I use it as a bedjacket.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I have an acrylic cardi or two too cos I'm allergic to wool and cashmere. It's the hairy bits. I can wear woven wool challis dresses OK - or did when I had to be smart for the office.
Haven't heard from LL on here for a long time. Do you know how she is? Glad you enjoyed yourselves.
It is too very blinking hot out there but needs must. I'm collecting seeds and watering things to lift for M-C but we'll have to leave most of it till next time in 2 weeks cos it's just too dry. Last time! She's succumbed to one of my perfumed hostas. No idea what it is anymore but pale lilac, open, upward facing flowers and a cream edge to the leaf. Gorgeous. I already have one in a pot for me and mum is still in the garden.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

We were promised 'maybe the odd lively shower'. Actually it's been thundering all day and raining hard for most of it. You could call it bikini weather but only in the sense of needing a swimming cossie in the downpour, not for sunbathing.
Sun's come out now though.
Gardening on the edge of Exmoor, in Devon
“It's still magic even if you know how it's done.”
Been gardening all afternoon - collecting seeds, potting up treasures, pruning this and that, pulling bindweed, forking over a previously cleared bed and planting filipendula and hemerocallis for starters. Water sprinkling now so I can re-plant more goodies tomorrow.
Just had my first taste of home-made blackcurrant cordial with a glass of sparkling water. Delish! Have given a bottle to M-C along with a hosta, a rooted layer of cornus alba sibirica and some Firebolt lilies.
Off for a shower now before making decent dinner. Possum has 2 friends over for dinner and a sleep tonight so they can all go and collect 1800 croissants tomorrow for a welcome breakfast for the new intake at college. She's on the student council now and it's her "baby". Might just put her off committee life for ever.
I too get the urge to get the scissors out when I see those flaps flapping and also young (usually) people with miles of dreadlocks that look unwashed all wrapped round their heads in knots. Decent haircut and some Frizease please!

No heatwave here fidget. Ferdiddling down and fifteen degrees. No chance of geting my gate latch done or the grass...
Whereabouts are you raisingirl? I knew there was thunderstorms/lightning forecast for some areas - think we're supposed to get some tomorrow, although it's all a bit random as these things often are.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
OMG, what a day. Didn't sleep all night problems with aches and pains. Then had to get up early to go on Nanna Duty. 10 minutes after Firstborn left for work the other Nan and Grandad arrived and insisted that they had been asked to look after grandchildren. Didn't argue (it has happened before) so I gave the children a cuddle and retired gracefully and drove home. 50 mile round trip for nothing, Firstborn not amused when I phoned and put her in the picture (would love to be a fly on the wall when that gets sorted).
I drove home full of intentions to make the most of what was going to be a beautiful day. Did some deadheading and tidying in the garden. Hubby came back from SM and said he would mow the lawns. Then it suddently went black and when I say the heavens opened, I mean it. We have had the most violent storm all afternoon with the sky alternating between yellow and black and the lightening and thunder has been really ferocious. I love a good storm but this one even made me jump. Mind you I was so exhausted I had an hour nap in the middle of it
Hopefully the worst is over. It feels like a sauna now.
I hate combovers too and bad syrups are even worse. Bald and proud. Mind you I'm not sure I would think that if it was me.

LL is OK, but not opening her garden anymore. It's still beautiful though.
Has anyone got this heatwave? Its warm and muggy and cloudy here.
Nice to sit outside and drink coffee, but hardly bikini weather.
