Try a Creole cake (Delia).  Similar amounts of alcohol but soaked a couple of days to get the fruit drunk and then baked in the week before Xmas so none of that remembering to feed and going through all the unwrapping and re-wrapping palaver - or is just me that gets too busy to faff?

We arrived back in France this evening. Plane landed with a huge thump, I was a bit scared, but journey was good compared with Yvie's.

Hot here, 26° at 8pm. Housesitter said it's been very hot. Our room was like an oven, despite the shutters being shut. I opened the windows, then OH went up later and left the lights on, when I went back there where several hornets in there, attracted by the light.

We don't have a lawn to mow anymore and some of the shrubs have sunburn. Don't know when we last had a summer with so little rain.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Yes, red sky here first thing - maybe we're getting some rain image  The forecast says we should get some today, before another week of warm and dry weather here in the east at least image

Hi Joyce and Dove. No Pixel decided to sleep on the bed our son uses when he comes down. I guess she was hoping to smell him. She's been very good though. Let out for an explore this morning and has slept all afternoon on his bed again. Son starts his overseas trip tonight. He has to catch a bus to take him to Sydney at 4am, would you believe. His sister has volunteered to collect him and take him to the bus. She lives on the opposite side of Canberra to him, so she'll be driving around for a couple of hours.image

We've been waiting all day for a huge storm which is supposed to be coming in from the west, but all we've had so far is very strong winds and cloud. It'll probably hit tonight. Melbourne and Adelaide have already had it. Rivers flooding etc.
