Joyce - hopefully the dry stuff will arrive soon and I might get the front grass done. I like a tidy edge too, but I also like cutting grass.
Sorry - just plain cakes - I like a spicy fruity cake too though. Fairylet will hopefully be making that celebratory fruit cake for the end of the year soon....I refuse to mention the word this early
Think Hosta just can't be a***d faffing with the pix Lantana.
Great stuff Steve - it's amazing how some small changes can make a huge difference.
You can do it B'man - we'll all support you. You can always get knee braces if you're having problems. I have a delightful looking pair for my dodgy old knees
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I have iced them - a pale green with some mint flavouring. They look like they have pea puree on the top
I had a root round in the 'baking' cupboard in case there was anything else I could put on the top, but there was only little holly leaves...not going down that road in September!
I've had to paint most of the day. Went out to dig out the rhodie at the front door, but I only got it cut back further and the rain was on. I soldiered on bravely ...but I got fed up and came back in

Evening all, feeling a bit shattered after returning from Hols, washing is being done as we speak and I'm recovering from the disastrous return journey which involved us oversleeping until 20 mins before the taxi arrived to pick us up for the airport (this resulted in pandemonium with us dashing round the apartment desperately trying to get dressed and finish packing).
We then got soaked in a massive thunderstorm whilst loading the cases into the taxi followed by a really hair raising trip down winding flooded roads to the airport.
Standing in the queue at check in I realised that I had left my handbag in the taxi so hubby had to dash around trying to find the driver, luckily he had stopped for a coffee and the handbag was retrieved.
The airport was a nightmare as two flights were delayed and so there were hundreds of people in what is a very, very small airport. Luckily our flight was on time. It was a pretty awful end to what was a really lovely holiday.
The garden was fine, although the grass was really long (message to self - don't have the lawn treated before going on holiday again). Haven't got to grips with it yet other than mowing the lawn as I've been busy looking after grandson yesterday and stayed over to give secondborn a break. Today was spent visiting mum and running errands for her and tomorrow I'm looking after Mabel for Firstborn.
Phew, I think I need another holiday.
Have been reading back but the brain can't process all the information so I hope everyone is OK.
I heard cake so I am here looks yummy Fairygirl, is there one left for me
been dry here so got on with Pallet benches nearly there bit of sanding and painting to go pics on pallet thread
Then cut the grass looks so better after a cut - and better to walk on - does need quite a bit done to it really, got all the shreddings on from using the hand planer today - learnt how to use today (dad's tool)
Goodness me! It doesn't do to miss a couple of days does it? What a busy lot you've been.
We arrived at the cottage in Malvern at about 4:30 after a remarkably smooth run to the Chunnel, through pet control and onto an earlier train. Similar easy run from Folkestone. BIl and SIL arrived at 8ish and dinner and much wine consumed. Floppy day today apart from lunch in Worcester with nephew and t'other SIL and one of her grandsons.
Tomorrow we're off to Picton gardens which is having an open day and holds a national collection of Michaelmas daisies. Theatre in the evening - musical and my private horror but not my choice. Deep breaths and much channelling of Zen.
M-up - Gloves too!
DD - lovely TV man.
Yvie - Sounds messy but better than no hol at all. Hope you can relax soon.
Busy - hope you had a good trip home.
So much going on so greetings to all I've missed and have a good Friday. Nearly the weekend!
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Great to see you all today. I'm heading off to bed now. We're half expecting to find a cat on the bed when we wake up, but we don't mind.
Thanks Fairy. Half a dozen was quite enough
