Pat I always track he family flying home, it is good fun hope the river looking healthier I worder if you can clear something up for us Are Huntsmen spiders venomous ? Our local paper has a piece this morning saying one has been found and describes it as highly venomous. I always thought they were just ugly brutes?
Chicky enjoy your trip it's an amazing place but the language is difficult and varies from area to area. My son in law kept inviting people to breakfast when he was trying to arrange a 7am meeting!!.,

Hosta try and get 40 winks along the way today

... Also thoughts on similar lines re the Russian for parsley and prawns. I'm left wondering if those words are especially useful in Russia..??? If so, why....
...
Totally obscure reasons - the Russian for parsley is petrushka - I love ballet and the ballet Petrushka (about a lovelorn puppet) was one of the first ones I ever saw and I love Stravinsky's music.
The Russian for prawns is krevetki - a bit like the French crevettes, so it was easy to remember. I took son's MIL out for the day shortly after the wedding - she spoke no English and I spoke no Russian so it was sign language and a lot of laughing - we had lunch in a café in Bury St Edmunds and we both had jacket potatoes with prawns.
We've got that very wet fine drizzle - just what the lawn needs
I picked the latest batch of pattypans earlier, before the rain started - then I went up to the farm shop to get onions, apples and vinegar etc .... chutney will be started as soon as I've finished my coffee ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Just thought I'd pop back and say 'hello' and see how everyone's been getting on.
This page looks a little better than when I jumped ship - has it improved back to what it was or are there still problems? Although I can't get on line all the time, I do miss it!
Tipping it down in Southampton at the moment, so I've retired from the boat to the library to get on line and away from the dreariness of the yard. Hve been busy harvesting spuds, onions, beans, courgettes etc from one of 'my' gardens oop north but needed to get on with the boat.

Lilyp, as far as I know Huntsmen spiders are non-venomous. I've always had that understanding. Different story with red backs.
Thanks Pat, I guess harmless spiders don't make headlines!!

I believe it's suddenly got awfully cold thre
can anyone tell me if its ok to prune back a black elder just now. It's really blocking my route to the bin!
A A Milne
LP I have taken a bit off the black elder and the buddleias as it's been so windy.
Hello all.
Just thought I'd pop back and say 'hello' and see how everyone's been getting on.

Hi Steve 309
Fairy, LP, Lesley etc hope you are all enjoying today's weather "up here"
while others are thankful for getting their grass and gardens watered.

How's everyone's harvest been going?
