When OH gets those "can you just confirm your details for me & we'll get the money transferred" phone calls, he asks them what details they've got, so he can confirm them. Do they really not know the meaning of "confirm", or are they just using the formula their bosses have given them? Anyway, stringing them along for as long as there's time for, then laughing at them, seems to make them go away...
I'm off to help with turf-laying at my son's house near York this weekend. Not the easiest job; he's adapting the hard landscaping left by the previous owners, so it will be a circular lawn with an off-set circular patio in it. Lots of cutting will be involved... hopefully not too much swearing
On Sunday I've got an all-day choir rehearsal in York. Then I'm going bramble-bashing on an estate working party at Lee Abbey, a Christian conference centre near Lynton in North Devon from Monday to Friday next week, followed by a singing day in Blackburn on Saturday. Back to normal on Sunday week!
So not much contact from me for a week or so. Have fun while I'm away...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Enjoy your week away and your singing Liri We'll keep an eye on the garden for you
Well, now it's CONFESSION TIME
I only popped into the GC to pick up some scillas to plant with the Chionodoxa I bought the other day ......... I ended up buying the scillas I'd gone for ... plus some Allium Purple Sensation for the new Sunny Bed and some Narcissus Tresamble (not sure where they're for ), and then an Astrantia 'Star of Love' just followed me home It's a gorgeous colour, a deep almost beetroot red - it'll pick up the dark ruby colours of the Salvia Wendy's Wish in the Sunny Bed, so I just had to have it, didn't I?

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Oh, and yes, you're right ... that is an avocado plant to the left of the astrantia - it must've come from the compost we put on that bed - now what am I going to do with that?

Avocados make very attractive pot plants inside, Dove.
I was once told that I was trying to sound pretentious when I called a plant by its botanical name. It's made me a bit reluctant to "sprout" the names out now. I haven't forgotten the names though. I need that to get to the next step after family/genus hints. As you say the flower shape and leaf go a long way towards identification.
Nothing pretentious about calling things by their proper names Pat it just avoids confusion. I mean, if you bought a plant called Black Eyed Susan, you could be getting a Thunbergia or a Rudbeckia - how would you tell? If people think that's pretentious they just don't understand what they're talking about
Yes, I've had avocado plants in the house before and this one looks good as it's multi-stemmed - I might pot it up - just a bit short of windowsill space.

Tresamble is pretty Dove - I bought some a couple of years ago. Nice creamy colour and not too tall.
I forgot you'd 'come into money' Joyce
Hosta - I've got a wealthy Nigerian prince wanting to marry me - I just need to transfer all my money into his bank account. Can't wait to see him....
We had Mike Wilson/David on the phone again this morning.Boss answered it though. I just shouted to her - It's a scam. Tell him to *** off. He was cutting off our internet apparently - him and his pals presumably....
Chucking it down here now after being dry and sunny for most of the morning when I was working. Grrr...
Oh BL - just saw your post. Sending love xxx

Morning all!
BL, thinking of you today.
Pat, some people just don't want to accept help.

i love your colour combinations in the photo.
I know the feeling too well Dove. . . a bit like my online 'must haves' yesterday.
Love the deep colour of the Astrantia. (I have one) so can resist further temptation
